Did you know more than 90,000 people are on the kidney transplant waitlist according to the United Network for Organ Sharing? On today’s National Donor Day, we want to raise awareness for and emphasize the importance of organ, eye and tissue donation. The selfless gift improves and even saves lives.

Frankie encourages you to take a look at our transplant wall in the clinic. It gives you an idea of the different types of people who have sat in the same chairs as you and took the path of transplant, in addition to the amount of time they waited on the kidney they received from a donor. The Frankfort clinic is open to referring all of our patients to any transplant program within their approved travel distance. Below are some of the key benefits of working towards transplant:
-Increased life expectancy
-better quality of life
-Freedom and flexibility, which includes fewer restrictions, increased energy in the ability to travel and work freely
-reduced risk of complications
-cost-effectiveness

Frankie is sending you all the reminder that your phosphate binders are crucial because failing kidneys can’t remove excess phosphorus, leading to the buildup of it in your body. Below is a list of ways binders help dialysis patients:
-Control phosphorus levels
-Block absorption of phosphorus
-Prevent bone disease
-Reduce vascular calcification
-Helps alleviate symptoms like severe itching & fatigue linked to high phosphorus

Any questions related to your binders and/or phosphorus education can be directly answered by your renal dietitian or your dialysis nursing staff !!!

Hello 👋 everyone!!!!! I’m back for a visit at the Frankfort DCI Clinic and am so excited to see everyone again! The clinic appears to have been spruced up since my last visit and I love what I’ve seen while snooping around, waiting for everyone to show up!!! I do love snow and although I’m watching for it, I hope you’re all safe coming in for treatment tomorrow morning!
