Your LDL cholesterol level will likely determine your Life Span

barring cancer, most people will meet their maker by way of some cardiovascular event ; after all , it’s the most common reason, by far, to bring us down. This usually occurs later on in our years, but occasionally we hear about someone that had a heart attack in ,say, their 30’s or 40’s.
The great majority of these events can be prevented if one has their LDL checked and does those things to keep that number under 100 , or even better, much lower.
It can help a lot to keep ones weight in check and exercise aerobically most days of the week, if possible .
Sometimes using a prescribed statin, like Lipitor, will greatly help; these are the greatest medicines ever invented, and I’ll go to my grave saying that . (Hopefully not too soon). They’re that good.

There exists a population of people that have extraordinary appetites that can not be satisfied ; it’s a genetic thing and they become very heavy adults with a shortened life span ; most of us are not like this but there are variants of this that very much exist in many of us -to tell someone like that to not eat so much is harsh and unrealistic ; only bypass surgery will help them.

Your Brain wants to preserve your current body weight

Yup ,try as you may, your brain controls it all below the level of consciousness; take in less calories? The brain slows down your metabolism ; exercise more? The body makes sure you burn less calories the rest of the day . Hard to believe but true. I mean it makes sense, it’s trying to help you!

“Childhood Fitness”
We start off pretty energetic at age 1-5 but then there is a huge drop off in activity for most kids; most at this time will not be seen running and biking - they’ll be immersed in screen time. When I go for a run and pass schools , I see empty bike racks -usually none -especially in junior and senior high school. Why aren’t these teens riding their bikes to school? They can’t live too far away. All of this has contributed to a rise in childhood and adolescent obesity along with the supersized drinks and such; time to change this and instill good activity habits at this age I say ; start a formal program at The Human Body-go online and book some time with me ; it will be well worth the time ...

That’s right -you burn most of your calories just by digesting food, your heart beating, your body systems working that is; sleeping -yes this burns calories too; that’s why our weight generally stays about the same each day . And if you start exercising to lose weight you burn LESS calories the remainder of the day-of course this is true because your brain wants to preserve your current weight-so it must try and prevent you from losing more; now we can overcome this but it will be a fight not on a daily basic but on perhaps a monthly basis; one needs to really understand how your brain will normally win this battle in the long run unless we do certain things to overcome the situation-permanently ; learn how at The Human Body Program @973.953.7668

“The incredible difficulty of maintaining a weight loss”

Ok you’ve lost some weight; maybe alot; but your brain is not happy about it-it thinks there is something wrong with you - it doesn’t know it’s 2019, it thinks it’s prehistoric time and you aren’t able to gather food; after all , it wants to preserve you and maintain you so it immediately does something about the new situation - it slows down your metabolism , to make it more difficult for you to lose anymore and thereby stabilize your health . This is why most gravitate back to their old set point or prior weight and then some . Now , we can override this but it will not be easy in the long run unless we have permanently changed the way we eat. That’s not easy to do because we rely greatly on food for well being-learn how your brain controls your best intentions and usually wins- almost always unless we do certain things to “ trick it” . Liposuction-good thought , bad idea-here’s why

Liposuction offers to remove fat cells from your body- sounds reasonable , right? Yes it’s costly but at least those cells will not return. That’s true , but if you put on any weight in the future, which most people will do, the remaining fat cells will enlarge and in strange ways- it’s not uncommon to see areas of fat accumulation , often behind the neck, of ugly masses of fat and then overall you’re less happy then when you started.

Running vs Bicycling vs Swimming-pretty much the same exercise benefit ?
Not at all; bicycling uphill will lead to the greatest combined aerobic and muscular payoff ; running uphill will be next , of course taking distance into consideration; swimming in freshwater continuously is a difficult exercise as one is not buoyant ( less so for men) however depending on the conditioning one is in , it can be a rather moderate activity; a lot of muscles are involved however and this is what makes it difficult . Conclusion: try to do all three and see for yourself ! Anyone involved in all three of these exercises is really maxing out there potential . Running vs Walking...
While it is certainly a vigorous exercise to run , especially uphill or fast paced, walking is just as good it turns out. In fact walking uphill is better for one’s cardiovascular system that running on a flat plane ; one can get much benefit from walking and if possible , make it partially uphill. You may hate going uphill, but your body loves it, as long as you can do it pain free. Then the brain talks back to you and says “ thanks, I’m going to make that easier for you next time ; the calories burned walking or running uphill are extraordinary ; plus the muscle you build will help you burn calories later when you’re not moving at all;

Triglycerides- they don’t get enough respect
