Blessed Imbolc and year of the Fire Horse..been feelin into some ancient ley lines regarding fire as year of the fire horse emerges (more below and more to come in February’s newsletter for those of you subscribed to such fanciful things 🙃 link in bio).

Excerpt~

I am finding myself drawn to notice the rousings of my heart for this next cosmic, earthy, benevolent cycle. I think it’s part of the season of “in the belly”- allowing oneself to be touched and gestated by the rhythms, currents, and musings; the amniotic sac.

Amid the varied themes that are emerging, there is a common thread that connects them all- fire (hello year of the fire horse).

And some ancient ley lines that feel like guide posts for 2026 have appeared regarding the medicine of fire-

Tapas; Hestia & Hearth

Tapas🔥
In the grounded practice and philosophy of Yoga, there is the teaching of tapas, oftentimes translated to mean something along the lines of discipline. Tapas is also considered to be a flame- the flame of tapas that refines, transforms, burns away.

Discipline as a practice doesn’t automatically sound enticing and can be quite harmful when practiced in a rigid, abusive, harsh way.

I recently heard someone etymologically break down the word discipline to disciple and that reframe sparked something for me-

To genuinely engage in the practice of discipline as a transformative, therapeutic, soul evolving agent is to be a disciple.

What are you a disciple of [deep down in your marrow, core, heart; when no one is looking; when you feel safe enough]?

Hestia & Hearth🔥
I didn’t know much about the Goddess Hestia until recently. But her core tenets struck a chord within me-

The necessity of maintenance, tending, attentiveness.

Hestia is the hearth that demands our attention in the name of continuity. For though the hearth is steadfast, it is not without condition- it requires our participation.

Hestia invites us to tend the hearth; to tend the of cave of the heart or Hridaya in Sanskrit that houses the unwavering flame of the sacred that lives inside all aspects of creation…

🌕 Moonrise on & Sunrise on snow ☀️

“Because there is beauty & magic in the world there is belonging”- this insight came to me at my most recent somatic experiencing training after going through a round of practice sessions and taking the time to sit with the image of sunlight on water. The same words arose watching the snow interact with the landscape, the moon, the sun, my senses. Those words- “because there is beauty & magic in the world there is belonging” are not just words but a shape I can inhabit that brings me much hope and strength.

I wonder what those words and accompanying shape are for you…how would you finish the sentence and what shape-feelings, sensations, breath, posture, gesture, image(s) might it provoke in you?

Because there is/are _________ in the world, there is belonging ✨

Increasingly more drawn and curious about place and belonging- a revolution of belonging that isn’t new but rather old, that is interdependent and all the more alive, resilient, and meaningful for it.

“Without a sense of belonging to the world, we feel empty and our lives lack meaning” …”we become alienated from the wider ecosystem of which we’re a part” -Sharon Blackie

It may seem unrelated but I don’t believe it is- to remember and restory our relationship with place; land; nature is a part of dismantling the systems that cause harm.

When belonging is severed so is choice, creativity, care, collaboration, connection, and compassion- part of the mess we’re in.

Where do you plant your feet? What rivers, ranges, trees, plants, and creatures do you live alongside? How do they interact with the world and the seasons? What might they have to teach you without you imposing your ideas on them?

Also, in some ways I miss being more active on here and look forward to a widened capacity to after finishing this last semester of grad school ✨.

Tomorrow is our Solstice Story Weaving event 😊 and these little mullein babies will be part of our integration craft and something for participants to take home and utilize on the Winter Solstice.

I was thinking about what this offering means to me and what draws me to co-facilitate it and what I’ve discovered thus far is- space to unravel, to soften into a sense of belonging, okayness, inner knowing, and a sense of interconnectedness via mindfulness, somatic awareness and integration, writing and craft, community and nature.

It’s hard- being human, riding waves of change, becoming, navigating aspects of contemporary culture that are constricting and suffocating, and we’re not meant to do it alone.

There is something deeply magickal or keenly intelligent about the world we exist in, our bodies, our hearts, the earth, and our journeys and it is our intention to come home to that, together.

Pictured: shelter from the storm

Currently: rumbling with the discernment of challenges that ripen v. impede and how to be refined by the former and respond to the latter.

Exploring: that we each have a unique soul blueprint, so to speak, imbued with gifts, intelligence, and genuine desires that are an extension of the mystery/spirit/source, and the actualization of these things has value for both the individual and the collective. And, the perpetual becoming of this inner genius (Michael Meade’s terminology) is one of continual birth and death, widening of edges, deepening of heart that mirrors the underworld journey of Persephone. And, we were never meant to engage in this journey alone.

Weaving: yoga (specifically meditation and mudra), somatic integration, ayurveda, mythopoetics, clinical practicality (1 more year of grad school), beauty, nature, and sharing as an antidote.

Sigh, almost 10 years ago I responded to a calling/appetite to shift my entire life and trajectory in the name of depth and meaning, which evolved to encircle what does it mean to genuinely experience a holistic sense of well-being, which unfolded into a quest for authenticity, empowerment, community, and creativity that is too often stifled by contemporary culture and oppressive systems.

May we have the patience, discernment, compassion, vulnerability, and support to see the inner calling through to its fruiting, for the benefit of all ✨
