We are full force into Cold and Flu season, and with Covid still rearing it’s ugly head, we need to be mindful of our environment and how to prepare in order to stay healthy during the upcoming months.

Since colds and flu bugs are viral and usually airborne, wearing a mask, maintaining at least an arms length distance or limiting the amount of time you are in direct contact with someone who demonstrates symptoms to under 15 minutes at a time has proven to be effective, but there are a few other ways to perk up your immune system to increase your line of defense.

Here are just a few tips to staying healthy during cold and flu season:
1. Stay hydrated! At least half of your body weight in fluid ounces per day is necessary to maintain good health.
2. Get optimal sleep. When you feel exhausted, you are more susceptible to getting sick.
3. Eat a rainbow every day! Enriching your diet with colorful foods ensures that you are getting a variety of healthy nutrients daily such as Vitamins A, B, C, D, Zinc and Magnesium which charge and boost your immune system.
4. Exercise regularly. Even a 10 minute walk every day will help to perk the metabolism and strengthen immunity.
5. Get outdoors! Breathing fresh air helps cleanse the lungs and being outside in the sunshine helps us metabolize Vitamin D, a key component to building immunity.

21 days to start or break a habit
12 weeks to find your groove
6 months to perfect it
1 year before you start to crave it and make it part of your identity.
