Exhausted but wired?

If you feel tired all day but can’t relax at night, your nervous system may be stuck in survival mode.

Chronic stress, adrenal dysfunction, blood sugar instability, and mineral depletion can keep cortisol elevated, leaving you fatigued, anxious, and unable to fully rest.

This isn’t a motivation problem. It’s a stress physiology problem. Support the nervous system. Stabilize blood sugar. Replenish minerals. Address the root cause.

High-protein diets are incredibly beneficial for metabolic health, muscle preservation, blood sugar balance, and weight loss, especially for women navigating hormone shifts or using GLP-1 medications.

But here’s what often gets overlooked:
When protein goes up, fiber often goes down.

Low fiber intake can disrupt gut health, slow detox pathways, impair estrogen metabolism, and reduce microbiome diversity. Over time, this can contribute to constipation, bloating, hormone imbalance, and inflammation.

This is particularly important for:
• GLP-1 users (gastric emptying is already slowed)
• Women increasing protein for muscle and hormone support
• Weight loss patients focused heavily on macros

Fiber plays a critical role in:
– Regulating blood sugar
– Supporting insulin sensitivity
– Binding excess estrogen
– Feeding beneficial gut bacteria
– Producing short-chain fatty acids like butyrate
– Supporting long-term metabolic health

Protein builds lean muscle and stabilizes appetite. Fiber regulates hormones, digestion, and inflammation. Sustainable fat loss and hormone balance require both.

March is National Nutrition Month and at The Fork Functional Medicine, nutrition isn’t about dieting. It’s about data, inflammation, hormones, and healing at the root.

Food is information. It influences your gut microbiome, blood sugar, thyroid function, detox pathways, and immune system every single day.

If you’re struggling with fatigue, bloating, weight gain, brain fog, PMS, or autoimmune symptoms, your nutrition may be part of the missing link.

This month we’re focusing on:
-Blood sugar balance
-Anti-inflammatory nutrition
-Gut health repair
-Hormone-supportive foods
-Personalized nutrition plans

Food should work for your body, not against it, that’s why our founder Chyrl Mosley created Mission YOU and The 12 Week Transformation. A complete biological reset to help calm inflammation and histamine response, and to reset hormones and adrenals, and give your kidney and liver a break. This process helps us learn what foods are harmful and which ones optimize your health.

What if the number on the scale only told a small part of your story?

At The Fork Clinic, we now offer advanced body composition analysis using the SECA Medical Scale. Instead of just weight, this technology measures what your body is actually made of: muscle mass, body fat, visceral fat, hydration, and metabolic health.

Why does that matter?

Because in functional medicine, real healing begins with real data. When we understand your body composition, we can personalize your nutrition, movement, and metabolic strategy to support exactly what your body needs.

No guessing. No generic plans.

Just deeper insight into your body… and a smarter path to transformation.

Become a new patient by April 30th and get your first SECA scale body composition for FREE! That is a $50 savings!

The Fork Clinic is the home of Mission YOU and the 12 Week Transformation where we personalize your path to better health. We specialize in thyroid, hormones, autoimmune disorders, gut health and peptide therapy.

It is NOT normal to feel exhausted all the time.

Your thyroid controls your metabolism, energy, mood, weight, digestion, hormones, and even heart rate. When it’s underactive (hypothyroidism), everything slows down. When it’s overactive (hyperthyroidism), everything speeds up. And when autoimmune conditions like Hashimoto’s thyroiditis or Graves’ disease are involved, the immune system is driving the dysfunction.

Common thyroid symptoms include:
• Chronic fatigue
• Unexplained weight gain or weight loss
• Anxiety or depression
• Hair thinning
• Brain fog
• Cold or heat intolerance
• Irregular or heavy periods
• Heart palpitations

If you’ve been told your labs are “normal” but you don’t feel normal, it may be time for comprehensive thyroid testing, not just TSH, but Free T3, Free T4, Reverse T3, and thyroid antibodies.

At The Fork Functional Medicine, we take a root-cause approach to thyroid dysfunction, autoimmune thyroid disease, hormone imbalance, and chronic fatigue. Your symptoms are signals, and they deserve answers.

Ready to stop guessing and start healing? Book your complimentary consultation today and let’s uncover what your thyroid is really telling us.

Continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) are redefining how we understand food. Two people can eat the same meal and have completely different blood sugar responses. One stays stable. The other spikes and crashes.

CGMs allow us to see:
• How specific foods affect your metabolism
• The impact of stress on blood sugar
• How sleep and movement influence glucose
• Why “healthy” foods don’t always feel good

This isn’t about restriction. It’s about awareness.

When people see their real-time responses, nutrition becomes less about rules and more about understanding how the body actually works. Personalized nutrition isn’t a trend, it’s a response to biological individuality.

Autoimmune disease doesn’t appear overnight. It develops gradually, often over years, through predictable phases.

First comes genetic susceptibility. Then a trigger. Then silent immune activation. Early symptoms are often overlooked, and then a diagnosis is finally made.

Most conventional care begins at Phase 5.

Functional medicine asks: What was happening in Phases 2-4?

First comes genetic susceptibility. Then a trigger. Then silent immune activation. Early symptoms are often overlooked, and a diagnosis is finally made.sis.

HRV measures the variation between heartbeats, reflecting how well your nervous system adapts to stress.
• Higher HRV = better flexibility and recovery
• Lower HRV = a system under strain

What’s important to understand is that HRV doesn’t just reflect emotional stress. It’s influenced by:
• Blood sugar instability
• Sleep quality
• Overtraining
• Inflammation
• Chronic cortisol elevation

A consistently low HRV isn’t a failure, it’s feedback.

Tracking HRV over time helps identify patterns, showing when the body needs rest, nourishment, or stress support instead of more pressure. When we understand HRV, we stop pushing through and start responding intelligently.

Your data is talking. Are you listening?

Wearable technology can change how we understand the body, but only if we know how to read the story it’s telling.

Your smartwatch or health tracker isn’t just counting steps. Today’s wearables can reveal patterns in:
• Stress resilience
• Sleep quality
• Blood sugar response
• Recovery and inflammation
• Nervous system balance

This data gives us a real-time view of how the body responds to food, movement, stress, and rest. But data alone doesn’t create health.

Without context, numbers can confuse or overwhelm. A low HRV score, a glucose spike, or a poor sleep score doesn’t mean something is wrong, it means your body is communicating.

When wearable data is interpreted alongside labs, symptoms, and lifestyle, it becomes a powerful tool for awareness and change.

Technology doesn’t replace biology. It helps us listen to it more closely.

Wearable technology gives us information, but wisdom comes from interpretation.
Numbers without context can lead to confusion or fixation. When we understand why a number is changing, data becomes empowering instead of stressful.

In functional medicine, wearable metrics are never viewed alone. They’re integrated with labs, symptoms, lifestyle, and lived experience to reveal patterns, not judgments.

Your body is adaptive, intelligent, and constantly responding.
Wearable data simply gives us a clearer lens to observe that process.

Who are we...

We are a small boutique health care clinic. We offer functional medicine by appointment only and community clinic hours as well - often available by walk-in or same day appointment.

Functional medicine is for everyone and its about one on one personalized health care; the provider and the patient are in a partnership and work as a team focused on achieving optimal health. We do this by assessing predispositions for disease or illness and uncovering the root cause of any current health challenges.

The community clinic hours are offered as a service to Leipers Fork and the surrounding communities, because sometimes we cant wait for an appointment we just need to see a provider right now. We recommend appointments for these visits but walk in’s are worked in whenever possible.

We are excited to open the clinic the fall of 2019.
