Meet the Staff Monday 👏 Meet Deisy Guzman, one of our amazing Medical Assistants here at Vecinos! She’s been with us for 5 months and already shines bright. Deisy loves connecting with patients and being part of a team that leads with kindness and empathy. When she’s off the clock, you’ll probably find her riding through the mountains, hitting the gym, spending time with friends, or enjoying her spiritual gatherings. Current movie faves: The Green Book and La Lista de Schindler. Grateful to have you on the team, Deisy! 💛

WNCfromthegroundup is one of our amazing partners! We also work with food banks across the region and we can help you find a food bank close to your home to donate!

Friends, there is no denying the inevitable struggle many of our neighbors are facing with the cuts in SNAP benefits and anticipated cuts to the WIC program.

WNC From the Ground Up is offering space to collect and distribute donations. There are many great organizations in our community, and this initiative is not designed in any way to undermine the work they are already doing, simply offering the extra space and hands for the food-focused organizations within our community.

This effort was born out of community organizers representing a wide range of non-profits and county agencies, with one goal in mind: to quickly get food to the organizations that need it. 

Here are the ways you can help: 
Check the current "wishlists" of the area organizations- donate those items.
Simply bring any food donations to WNC From the Ground Up; current hours are Monday-Friday, 8 am- 6 pm, and by appointment only on Saturday.
Volunteer for a shift! Visit this link https://wncfromthegroundup.org/volunteer to sign up.
Monetary donations will not be accepted at this location; please donate directly to your preferred organization.

We are excited to share that our amazing CEO Marianne Martinez will be speaking at North Carolina’s National Rural Health Day Celebration on Thursday, November 20th at the Mountain Area Health Education Center (MAHEC)!
She'll be sharing insights from Vecinos, Inc. on the lessons we've learned through hurricane recovery and our ongoing efforts in community resilience and emergency preparedness.
