November is National Hospice and Palliative Care Month. . . a time to honor the work of hospice and palliative care providers and to raise awareness of these wonderful services! At Main Street Hospice, we are blessed with caring, compassionate staff who are experts in their individual roles! This month, we will be featuring some of our staff, in no particular order, so you can get to know us a little better and see why we do what we do!
Today let me introduce you to Mike Crockett, Chaplain. Mike is our Spiritual Care Coordinator and we are so blessed to have him on our Team!
Mike shared:
“As a hospice chaplain, I have the sacred privilege of walking with people through one of life’s most profound seasons — the journey toward its end. My calling is to be a calm and compassionate presence for patients and families as they navigate questions of faith, meaning, loss, and love.
For me, chaplaincy is about listening deeply — to the words spoken and the quiet moments in between. It’s about honoring each person’s story, beliefs, and memories while helping them find comfort, hope, and peace in their own way. Whether I’m praying with a family, sitting in silence beside a bedside, or simply offering a hand to hold, I see every encounter as an exchange of grace. I love working for Mainstreet as I feel we have the best hospice company in the industry.”

Today let me introduce you to Faith Hundley, RN. Faith is our Clinical Supervisor and we are so blessed to have her on our Team!
Faith shares:
“I was drawn to hospice very early in my nursing career. In hospice the nurse has the opportunity to spend more time with the patients and assist with better quality of life during a person’s final journey. I appreciate the more holistic approach of hospice focusing on more than a person’s illness. I chose Main Street Hospice because it is a small company who truly cares about the patients, families and their employees, unlike any other company I’ve worked for in the past.”

Madison shares:
“My name is Madison Matlock and I have been a nurse for a year and a half with just starting at Main Street two months ago. I have been with my fiancé for nearly seven years, we are recently engaged and excited to begin this next chapter together. We share our home with an energetic Australian Shepherd, Maggie. When I am not caring for patients I love reading, hiking, and spending time with friends and family.

I chose hospice because I feel called to make a difference when people are at their most vulnerable. I find deep purpose in providing comfort, dignity and compassion to patients and their loved ones during life’s most meaningful moments. “

“As a nurse, I have always been interested in all the different fields being a registered nurse has to offer. With that being said, after exploring the hospice field, I knew this was the place for me. I have a strong compassion for helping patients and families when they are in need. As a case manager, the relationship and connection with my patients and their families is truly what I love most about my job—it is so rewarding.

Main Street Hospice has an amazing team full of people that have the heart to back up the exceptional care they provide. I am so proud to be a part of their team !”

Today let me introduce you to Conner Day- Martin, RN. Conner is one of our On Call Nurses who makes sure our patient needs are taken care of after hours and we are so blessed to have her on our Team!
Conner shares:

“I’m a wife and a mom to two sweet boys—a busy 7-year-old and a curious 18-month-old who definitely keep me on my toes! I’ve been a nurse for almost five years with most of that time spent working on a medical-surgical unit as well as in pediatric home health.
Lately, I’ve felt drawn to try something new in my nursing journey, and that’s what led me to hospice care. When I visited Main Street Hospice, I immediately felt a sense of warmth and belonging. Everyone was so welcoming—it truly felt like walking into a big family. I’m grateful to work for an organization that leads with heart and treats every patient, and every team member, like one of their own. “

Today, let me introduce to you Mariah Pendleton, Volunteer Coordinator and Community Liaison.
Mariah shares “I have volunteered for Main Street since they opened over 7 years ago and have been an employee for about 5 years. I have been married 5 years to my grade school crush. We have 3 precious Goldendoodles. I’m just so thankful for Jesus and His many blessings in life. At Main Street, I’m a community liaison but I’m also the volunteer coordinator. I love building relationships with community partners! I love speaking to every patient and/or their families when I do the volunteer assessment and assign their volunteer! Being able to assign a volunteer to provide relief for a tired caregiver or providing a volunteer for companionship for a facility patient, brings me joy. So thankful for the awesome volunteers we have and building friendships with them. And what a blessing it is, to plan/celebrate patient birthday parties and plan military honors for Veterans. At Main Street, our patients and their families are our family. Hospice is not a job for me, it’s a calling!”

Today let me introduce you to Stephanie Clark, RN. Stephanie is one of our Case Managers and we are so blessed to have her on our Team!
Stephanie shares:
“I have been a nurse for 3.5 years, with the last year being a full-time case manager at Main Street Hospice. I have two fur babies; Ronan, a Great Dane, and Maggie, a Border Collie mix. I love spending time with family and friends, along with spoiling all my nieces and nephews. I have recently discovered I enjoy traveling and seeing new places.

I lost both of my parents 12 years ago after long battles with their diseases. I always say I get to bring my parents to work with me by sharing stories and challenges my family experienced during their end-of-life journeys with the families I work with. Knowing I am helping people through their last journey of life according to their wishes, and helping families navigate through their loved one’s journey has been the most rewarding part of being a Hospice Nurse. I also get to work with some amazing people at Main Street Hospice.”
“Hospice Nurse (noun), we cannot change the outcome, but we can affect the journey”

Nikya shares that she is Wife and mother to one kiddo currently. She shares “I have been a nurse for 6 years, the entirety of my career has been spent in the geriatric population in some form or another. I enjoy and chose hospice because it’s wonderful to be able to meet these amazing patients and their loving family to be an extra support for them through such a difficult time in their life. There are few “strangers” you meet in your life that leave a lasting impact and special bonds formed through difficult times, but it’s the main reason I chose hospice. I specifically chose Main Street because they aren’t like family, they are family. You truly couldn’t pick better people to not only care for your loved ones, but to work along side in both a professional and personal manor. Main Street doesn’t just give that “home town feel” they are like home! I believe in Main Street so much, that my own family has used them for all of our family members that chose Hospice.”

The Main Street Hospice Story

Main Street Hospice, formerly Americare Hospice, is owned by Dr. G. Mitch Cornett, MD and Doug Weddle. Americare Hospice was founded twenty-three years ago by Doug’s wife, Kim Weddle, RN. Dr. Cornett has served as Medical Director since the opening of Americare Hospice in 1995. When the decision was made to sell Americare Hospice, Dr. Cornett and Doug Weddle saw this as an opportunity to use their areas of expertise to provide the best possible hospice services with a “hometown feel.” With Dr. Cornett’s extensive history as Hospice Medical Director and Doug’s extensive experience of founding, owning and managing a successful business for over thirty years (Deer Valley Golf Course) there was no question that this was the right decision! Main Street Hospice became official August 10, 2018 and we take pride in the excellent hospice care we provide with a team of professionals and volunteers that have been “hand picked.” If we can be of help to any friends or family ou may know in need of hospice care, please recommend Main Street Hospice.
