Memory Walkers Welcome to the official page of the Memory Walkers of Washington Parish. To learn more, please visit our website at: www.memorywalkers.webs.com

Founded on July 1st, 2013, by Kreig Todd, and based out
of Franklinton, LA, the Memory Walkers has grown to be
one of the most recognizable Walk to End Alzheimer’s
Team in Washington Parish. The organization is comprised of team members, five of which form the Executive Board. The Memory Walkers exist to bring awareness of Alzheimer’s to the Washington Parish Community and contribute significantly to Alzheimer’s research. In addition, they also serve as a support group for those affected by the disease. The organization meets the third Monday of each month at Franklinton Town Hall. They encourage community members to attend these meetings.

Hello friends! I hope this post finds you well. The Memory Walkers of Franklinton was founded almost eight years ago with the mission of raising awareness of Alzheimer’s Disease and helping generate support for families affected by the disease in the Washington Parish area.

The Memory Walkers was a group comprised of various individuals who each participated in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s Events hosted by the Alzheimer's Association. The monies raised went toward our team goal each year as we raised funds for the Alzheimer’s Association. Hosting the 5Ks, Softball Tournaments, Poker Runs, and more was an absolute blast and I am thankful to have been a part of the effort in raising funds for the Alzheimer’s Association.

For the last five or so years, the Memory Walkers team has been inactive. This is due to the reality that the core group of members has experienced major life changes that have caused some of us to move away for job opportunities or have dictated a change in our priorities. While we are no longer an active organization, the work of countless individuals and teams continues across the nation. You can continue to keep up-to-date with progress in Alzheimer’s Research at www.alz.org as well as continue your financial support of the endeavor.

As of today (1.24.22), we had a checking account balance of $795.01. This entire amount has been given the Alzheimer’s Association (Louisiana Chapter) to support their Walk to End Alzheimer’s Event on the Northshore later this year (you can see this donation in the picture attached).

I am thankful for the opportunity to have served the Washington Parish Community and the Walk to End Alzheimer’s Event as well as serve as the President of this organization.

Thank you,
Kreig Todd
President/Founder

Over the next year, I will be in Cardiff doing mission work. Myself and a few others went to Cardiff Bay today not knowing about the Memory Walk going on hosted by the Alzheimer's Society. It was great to meet others with the same focus: A world without Alzheimer's.
