Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is a chronic eye condition most commonly seen in adults over the age of 50—and it can impact the vision you rely on every day.
AMD affects the macula, the part of your eye responsible for sharp, central vision used for reading, driving, and recognizing faces. There are two types of AMD:
• Dry AMD, caused by thinning of the macula
• Wet AMD, caused by abnormal blood vessel growth
In the early stages, AMD often has little to no noticeable symptoms. As it progresses, you may notice blurred vision, dull or faded colors, or straight lines appearing wavy.
That’s why annual comprehensive eye exams with advanced health testing are so important—at any age. Early detection can make a meaningful difference in protecting your vision.
