Happy National Activity Professionals Week! 💙

Engagement is not a “nice extra” in memory care. It is essential. At Silverado, our philosophy is rooted in purpose, dignity, and knowing each resident as a whole person. Meaningful engagement supports cognitive health, reduces anxiety, and brings moments of joy and connection to each day. Our activity professionals do far more than plan a calendar. They create experiences that honor life stories, abilities, and what still brings spark and meaning.

We are incredibly grateful for our amazing engagement team who bring Silverado’s philosophy to life and remind us daily that engagement is care.

Big congratulations to Dwayne, our Great 8 Word Monthly Contest winner!

Dwayne is one of our laundry aides, so give him a shoutout if you see him in the community delivering your loved ones clothes.

Last month’s word was Trust, and in a memory care community, trust is everything. It is built in the small, steady moments. A familiar face. A calm voice. Following through, every time. Trust allows our residents to feel safe, valued, and understood, even when the world around them feels confusing. Dwayne embodies this beautifully, showing our residents and families that they are in expert, compassionate hands.

Celebrating our December Associate of the month: Bruce Grimm!

Bruce is a hardworking member of our Plant Ops team and is a big part of the reason the community stay clean and maintained! Always there to lend a hand when you need it, whether it is hanging pictures on a wall or making sure the community is cleared from snow, you will always find Bruce helping out.

Bruce says that the residents are the biggest part of why he loves his job. He enjoys interacting with them and getting to learn their stories. Seeing them happy brings him great joy.

Thank you so much Bruce for all your hard work. We couldn't do what we do without you!

1,2,3 GO!

Despite chilly weather outside, we had such a blast having our own indoor "snowball" fight. The competitive spirit was high and everyone wanted in on the action.

Afterwards, we brought some of the real snow in to ensure that all of the residents were able to partake in the fun!

We had a magical Polar Express party filled with a cozy winter cheer. Everyone enjoyed a festive hot cocoa bar, received their very own golden ticket, and settled in for a wonderful time watching The Polar Express together.

Some moments never fade, especially the ones set to music!

At Silverado, we loved to encourage our residents to keep doing the things that light them up, especially when it comes to music. Music isn’t just beautiful to listen to. It supports brain health, boosts mood, and helps strengthen memory and emotional connection.

More importantly, it helps our residents stay connected to their purpose. Dementia doesn’t erase who someone is or what brings them joy. Our job is to nurture that spark, every single day.

We know that life with memory loss can still be meaningful and musical.
