Earth Day is celebrated on April 22nd because it was on that day in 1970 that the first Earth Day event took place. This event, organized by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson, aimed to raise awareness about environmental issues and marked the beginning of the modern environmental movement. The date was chosen in part because it fell between college spring break and final exams, allowing for greater student participation. Celebrate Earth Day!

🎉 Join us for a fantastic day of fun before the school year kicks off at our Fun in the Field event!

Bring the whole family and set up some lawn chairs for an afternoon filled with exciting activities:

🍔 Food Trucks serving up your favorite treats from La carreta tacos y tortas , Stroker's BBQ , The Blues Pizza Company , and Red Envelope Coffees. Each SJRCS student will receive a free slush from Sunset Slush of Frederick County courtesy of the SJRCS Home School Association!
