Wow!! Finally people, government and doctors are starting to really understand cannabis and its benefits ๐๐๐๐ kudos to you HOCO for recognizing this can actually help!!
They spend their days protecting our communities โ often at great personal cost. For years, Howard County firefighters have been advocating for policies that recognize their health, recovery, and overall well-being.
Now, that work is paying off. Howard County has revised its Fire & Rescue substance policy to allow firefighters to use approved medical treatments while off-duty beginning January 31, 2026, with a requirement for valid medical authorization and a strict 12-hour prohibition before reporting to duty, while maintaining clear safety standards.
This moment shows how thoughtful policy can evolve to better support first responders โ balancing wellness, responsibility, and public safety.
