Meet Hospice Volunteer Yvonne (“Von”) Hansche

Von discovered her calling as a Hospice Compassionate Presence Volunteer, providing quiet, caring support to patients at the end of life. She sits with patients in transition, sometimes reading or singing softly, ensuring no one is alone in their final moments. “As a shy introvert, it comes naturally to me,” Von says. “It’s a privilege and an honor.”

Losing a sibling can be a deeply personal and lifelong loss. This special 8-week support group is for adults who have experienced the death of a sibling—whether recently or earlier in life.

🗓 Tuesdays, March 3 – April 28 (except April 7)
⏰ 5:30 – 7:00 PM
📍 Frederick Health Village

Facilitated by Hospice Grief Counselor Jessica Thornton, LCSW-C, this group offers a safe, supportive space to share stories, connect with others who understand, and learn healthy ways to cope—because you don’t have to go through it alone.

Hospice’s Veteran Liaisons are seeking donations of handmade blankets to present to each veteran during their annual recognition ceremony. The blankets are a highlight of the ceremony each year because they’re practical, unique, and meaningful as gifts – and often stay as a beloved reminder with the family long after the veteran has passed away.
