We know that local families have choices when it comes to end-of-life care. For more than 45 years, Frederick Health Hospice has provided trusted palliative and hospice care in and around Frederick County, continually adapting to best practices while building a reputation for compassionate, high-quality care.

Frederick Health Hospice is a nonprofit organization and a division of Frederick Health. We are Medicare-certified, licensed by the state of Maryland, and accredited by The Joint Commission—giving families confidence in the care they receive.

Connection is at the heart of hospice care. It guides how we show up for each family, how we support one another, and how we strengthen the community we proudly serve.

Our close presence within the Frederick community remains one of our greatest strengths. Each day I see the steady trust that anchors the relationship between our team and the families we serve. I see how a gentle conversation, a familiar face, or a moment of comfort becomes a lifeline during a family’s hardest days.

What’s the difference between palliative care and hospice care?

“The most important thing to know,” Dr. McDonald says, “is that a palliative care team works to relieve the worst of symptoms, often from chronic illness, and improve a patient’s quality of life. Palliative care is also well-versed in hospice eligibility, and is well-equipped to help facilitate that conversation when it’s time.”
