A common misconception about ADHD is that people simply “can’t focus”. But, in reality, ADHD is about inconsistent access to attention. Some days you’ll feel great, and other days doing a simple task feels impossible. The inconsistency is not laziness or a lack of discipline, that’s just how the ADHD brain responds to stimulation, stress and regulation.
When the nervous system is overwhelmed, your focus drops. When something is engaging or meaningful, your focus can suddenly click on.
If this resonates with you, work on small changes. Make a task smaller before you try to focus on the big picture. Regulate first, then you will be able to focus after that.
You are not broken because your focus isn’t consistent. Your brain just needs a different approach.
