Today we celebrate International Women’s Day and the incredible strength, resilience, and courage of women everywhere. 💜

At Andrea’s House, we see that strength every single day. We see it in the mothers who choose recovery, who fight for a better future for themselves and their children, and who show up with determination even when the journey is hard.

🖤 Today is Black Balloon Day. 🖤
A day of remembrance, reflection, and awareness for the lives lost to substance use disorder.

At Andrea’s House, we stand with families, friends, and communities who have felt the weight of this loss. Addiction is a battle, and every name behind a black balloon is a story that deserves to be heard.

If you’ve lost someone, drop a black heart 🖤 in the comments to remember them. You are not alone.

This morning, we gathered for an important and timely conversation about the anticipated impacts of H.R.1 on Frederick County’s housing, food security, and healthcare systems.

We were honored to have Chris Van Hollen and April McClain Delaney join state and local leaders to share insights on how potential policy changes may affect families and essential services right here in our community.

For organizations like Andrea’s House, these conversations matter. Housing stability, access to healthcare, and food security are not abstract issues - they directly impact the mothers and children we serve every single day.

We are overwhelmed with gratitude. 💛

Because of the incredible generosity of Collective Church, Andrea’s House received:
🍼 Over 5,000 diapers and pull-ups
🧴 Over 6,000 wipes
🛁 36 bottles of baby shampoo
💛 32 bottles of baby lotion
👶 26 pacifiers
🍼 18 baby bottles
🩹 16 containers of diaper rash ointment

This is more than just supplies. This is relief for moms working hard in recovery. This is dignity. This is support. This is community showing up in a tangible way.

Thank you, Collective Church, for loving our families so well. 💕

Today, our Andrea’s House Board gathered for a meaningful retreat at South Mountain Overlook. 🌄

We stepped away from the daily pace of work to reflect, pray, plan, and realign around our mission: saving lives one mother at a time.

There were honest conversations, strategic planning, and powerful vision casting for what’s ahead. When leadership takes time to grow together, the impact reaches every woman and child we serve.

We were also so grateful to be catered by Chef K and Francis Food Co. - the food was incredible and such a thoughtful addition to the day.

Grateful for a board that leads with heart, faith, and purpose. 💛

Nine months.

Nine months of choosing healing.
Nine months of doing the hard work.
Nine months of showing up, even on the days it would have been easier to quit.

Nikki has been to hell and back. Addiction tried to take everything from her - including precious time with her little girl. But today, she stands in victory.

Nine months clean.
Nine months rebuilding.
Nine months as the mom her four-year-old daughter gets to grow up watching fight and win.

We are here for all the Nikki’s of the world!

Ebenezer AME Church continues to show what true community looks like. ❤️

Their congregation generously donated over 2,000 diapers to Andrea’s House, helping ensure that the mothers and babies in our program have one of their most basic and essential needs met.

For many of the women we serve, this kind of support removes a real burden and allows them to focus on what matters most - healing, growing, and building a stable future for themselves and their children.

We are so grateful to the incredible women of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.- BASZ Beta Alpha Sigma Zeta, Frederick Chapter, for their generosity and heart for our mission. 💙

This fall, they collected and donated personal hygiene items for the women and families at Andrea’s House, along with a thoughtful token of love. These essentials may seem simple, but they restore dignity, provide comfort, and remind our residents that they are seen, valued, and supported.

We are incredibly grateful to receive a $4,000 Horning Neighborhood Grant in support of Andrea’s House.

This investment goes directly toward creating a safe, stable, and faith-centered environment where women and their children can heal, rebuild, and move forward with hope. Every dollar strengthens our ability to walk alongside families as they reclaim their lives and their future.
