To my Honored Patients, Colleagues and Friends,
It is truly with mixed emotions that I announce my retirement from Mid Maryland Internal Medicine this July.
It has long been my intention to seek new adventures while I still had time to enjoy them.
Over the past several years, as this time drew nearer, I knew two things:
1. I would not leave my practice in the midst of a global pandemic
2. I would only retire when we had found a physician with superb credentials and commitment to our practice philosophy to replace me
At this time, I’m confident both goals have been met.
Dr Afrookteh and I are pleased to announce that Dr Brendon Henderson will be joining Mid Maryland Internal Medicine, assuming the care of my patients, effective July 1st, 2022.
Dr Henderson is a native of Maryland and completed his Internal Medicine residency at Yale. He and his wife, Emily (along with their 4 young children) , have deep roots in the Frederick community. He has years of clinical experience and is deeply committed to helping his patients achieve their wellness goals.
Once he gets his feet on the ground, Dr Henderson will also be accepting new patients. Our goal is to continue to provide comprehensive personalized healthcare to the community.
As Dr Afrookteh and I have since opening Mid Maryland Internal Medicine, Dr Henderson will follow his patients that are admitted to Frederick Health Hospital to facilitate communication between the hospital experience and discharge planning.
For those that are wondering, Dr Afrookteh has every intention to practice for years to come. As long as he can play jazz and find time to golf, he’s good.
My 30-year career in medicine has been more fulfilling than I could have ever imagined. I feel fortunate to have worked with so many caring and exceptional colleagues. Not a day has gone by that I didn’t learn something new.
In Good Health,
Martha J Pierce, MD
