Imitation is one of the most important early communication skills for toddlers.

Before kids use words, they learn by copying what they see and hear. When your toddler claps after you, pushes a car the same way you do, or tries to copy a sound like “uh-oh,” they are building the foundation for language, play, and social skills.

👶 Imitation helps toddlers:
• Learn new words and sounds
• Figure out how to play with toys
• Take turns and interact with others
• Build attention and learning skills

💡 Easy ways to encourage imitation at home:
• Copy your child first, then add something new
• Use simple actions like clapping, waving, or tapping
• Pair actions with sounds or short words
• Pause and give your child time to try
