We are people with & without disabilities sharing life together in a community of faith. We host inclusive social events open to people of all ages.

L'Arche Frederick is a nonprofit in Frederick, Maryland working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Our forthcoming community home - the first of several - will welcome adults with and without IDD to live together as peers and friends. L'Arche Frederick is part of an international federation of 156 communities in 38 countries, serving over 10,000 members. Meaningful

relationships, individualized supports, and a culture of belonging are at the core of what makes L'Arche one of the most unique organizations in the country.

You chose this month’s theme: Cupcake Wars!! 🧁
This Friday night, we’ll “battle it out” with a friendly decorating competition.

As usual, we’ll start with an activity to connect and get to know one another. Then, the games begin with different rounds of individual and group decorating. Bring your creativity and zest for sprinkles!

L’Arche provides the cupcakes and all the supplies - you decorate to your heart’s content.

The best part? You get to eat your sweet creations at the end of the night!

Lots to celebrate at L’Arche! At this month’s house community night, we gave thanks for another trip around the sun for Program Coordinator, Tiffany, & Community Leader, Megan. We shared their gifts and enjoyed lots of cake! 🥳

We also welcomed our newest core member, Paola! Together with her family, we shared a blessing and our hopes for her in our home. Here, Paola is modeling the “welcome lei” we created. 🌺 Our house community grows stronger every year!

How sweet it is to dance the night away with community!We’re still on a sugar high from our Valentine’s Dance last week. L’Arche friends partied all night and had a ball!

Huge thanks to our wonderful Rotary volunteers with for decorating and dancing with us! We loved working with Premier Pics once again - that photo booth was a hit! DJ Aidan with Good Vibrations kept the dance floor humming and, as always, the Arc on Market St is the perfect space to gather.

Our Story

L'Arche Frederick Maryland is a group of dedicated and inspired individuals who seek to create a community for people with and without disabilities to share life in unity, faith, and friendship. This movement was founded in 1964 and has grown into an International Federation of 153 communities in 38 countries.

Since 2012, we have hosted monthly gatherings focused on cultivating relationships and highlighting the gifts of people with disabilities. Our future plans include opening our first home, where people with and without disabilities will live together.
