L'Arche Frederick MD, Inc. We are people with & without disabilities sharing life together in a community of faith. We host inclusive social events open to people of all ages.

L'Arche Frederick is a nonprofit in Frederick, Maryland working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Our forthcoming community home - the first of several - will welcome adults with and without IDD to live together as peers and friends. L'Arche Frederick is part of an international federation of 156 communities in 38 countries, serving over 10,000 members. Meaningful relationships, individualized supports, and a culture of belonging are at the core of what makes L'Arche one of the most unique organizations in the country.

Happy Birthday to the fabulous Jan! 🎉 We celebrated a true L’Arche legend at this month’s Community Night. Jan has been a part of L’Arche in the USA for decades and we’re so proud she calls our Frederick community home. Erin, Will, Trevor, and Kelly prepared a delicious meal to share. Then, Trevor & Caraline whipped up a creative cake activity giving everyone a chance to name Jan’s gifts and celebrate another year together. 🎂 We love you, Jan!

L’Arche’s first event of 2026 is in one week and we’re leaning into this cozy, hopeful season. Join us for an exciting night creating vision boards for the year ahead! All supplies for a crafty night will be ready to go, plus plenty of snacks to fuel your creativity.

Today’s the day! The Let It Shine Extravaganza kicks off 2pm at Frederick Community College, and you won’t want to miss it. From dance and song to heartfelt performances, it’s going to be an joyful show celebrating the gifts of our community.

Bring your friends, bring your laughter, and help us pack the house in support of the performers. This is a family friendly, free event (with donations welcome). Doors open at 1:30pm and the show starts at 2pm.

Now more than ever - we need to lift up one another and celebrate the goodness & gifts of every person. Spend a meaningful afternoon with L’Arche and close your weekend on a high note!

You don’t want to miss performers with & without disabilities shining onstage and sharing their gifts.

BUT - the Let It Shine Extravaganza isn’t complete without YOU! With a supportive & cheering crowd on their side, performers can shine even brighter.

Let’s fill the theater on Sunday and build a more inclusive Frederick together. Come early to bid on raffle baskets and get to know our community!

Our Story

L'Arche Frederick Maryland is a group of dedicated and inspired individuals who seek to create a community for people with and without disabilities to share life in unity, faith, and friendship. This movement was founded in 1964 and has grown into an International Federation of 153 communities in 38 countries.

Since 2012, we have hosted monthly gatherings focused on cultivating relationships and highlighting the gifts of people with disabilities. Our future plans include opening our first home, where people with and without disabilities will live together.
