🌲🧠🩵 December is upon us, kindreds! With winter and the holidays fast approaching, and geopolitical stressors at an all-time high, many are already feeling burnt out or on the precipice of burnout. Follow us this week as we share tips for healing from burnout for the body, mind, and spirit. Today, we cover MIND:
📴 Take a break from ALL screens- a real, intentional break! Whether it’s for several hours or a full day or two, step away from scrolling mindlessly on phones, binge-watching TV, gaming or browsing on tablets, etc. Pick up a book, play a board game, practice drawing or another creative activity. Your brain will thank you for going analogue for a little while!
🫂 For many, December is a time of gathering with loved ones. For some, their loved ones are blood family, while others are chosen family and friends. At KTHC, we live and practice the value of CONNECTION, and we hope you all seek connections that feel supportive, safe, and meaningful.
👂🏽Talk less, listen more- we all have important things to share with our kindreds as the year comes to a close. Are we making sure that we’re really hearing what matters most to those we care about? Notice if you can remember what your loved ones are spending their time and energy on, and make a point to ask about these topics and listen when you spend time with them.
🎧 Binaural Stimulation refers to music or beats that one listens to to help reduce anxiety, improve sleep and focus, and increase calm. This is achieved by alternating sound waves between the right and left ears- usually with the use of headphones- in a way that supports brain waves and functioning. For more information about how to intentionally use binaural stimulation, seek guidance from a qualified therapist!
🙅🏽♀️What are your sensory ‘don’ts’? For many, sensory overstimulation can be loud noises, itchy fabrics, too much socialization, bright, fluorescent lighting, and more can negatively affect a person’s ability to think and function well overall. Maybe your sensory ‘don’ts’ look different, and that’s okay! Curate your spaces to be sensory-friendly for you.
