As the year comes to a close, our practice invites us to pause, breathe, and honor how far we’ve come.

Join me on the mat as we slow down, release what’s heavy, and create space for what’s next.

Let’s close the year with presence, gratitude, and movement that feels like coming home.

Hope to see you Thursday night at 7pm at at the main studio on Caroline Street for Yang & Yin. Let’s close the year with intention. 🙏

Don’t let the hard days win. Don’t let the hard weeks win.

Life has come at me pretty hard lately. Anyone else? ✋

I always find it funny when a yoga student or teacher shows any sign of stress and someone says “but you teach or practice yoga”…always coming from someone that is not a yoga student or teacher. 😉

As students and teachers we are not immune to the storms of life. We may perhaps be more aware of the sensations in our mind, body, and spirit - so it may even be a little more pronounced at first because we’ve given ourselves permission to feel life fully. We are taught - feel it to heal it.

Yoga teachers and students feel the same stress, chaos, and “I-thought-I-was-supposed-to-be-zen-by-now” moments as everyone else—sometimes more. Let’s keep coming back to the mat, using the tools, and giving ourselves the self-care we deserve.

See you on Sunday at 5pm.

❤️

Affirmations to help us practice letting go of the expectations of others:

“I release the need to be understood by everyone.”
“I am grounded in who I am.”
“I practice showing up with steadiness & ease.”
“I allow others their perceptions, and I return to my peace.”

Let’s stop carrying the weight of what was never ours.

Inspired by yoga sutra 1.12 “…mental modifications are restrained by practice and non-attachment”.

The Thursday night class at 7pm is Yang Yin. What does that mean? It means we’ll move some with our breath, we’ll practice standing poses, but we’ll also take time to slow down for some yin poses and end with an extra long savasana. This class is great for new students or students that have been practicing for years. Over the last few years I have come to really appreciate the beauty of yin! I’ve noticed that yin is what leaves me feeling the best when I step off my mat - mind, body, and spirit. Join us!

Potentially a controversial topic (though it really shouldn’t be - and perhaps the more we talk about it the less awkward it will be). I’ll post the link to the recent podcast below in the comments from .perger - Episode 284 A Basic Guide to Animal Protein. A great episode with a review of text from the Charaka Samhita (Ayurveda’s ancient text, and perhaps predating the Yoga Sutras - it’s hard to really tell). If you’ve ever felt weird about practicing yoga and eating meat and wondered if the two could coexist, this episode is for you! Enjoy!

Fellow yoga teachers, students, and those wanting to both prevent and manage pain will appreciate this episode. Enjoy!
