It’s the time of year where I like to share how my little family celebrates for the holiday season. This time of year is deeply painful for many, and for me personally it is as well. This year marks the 9 year anniversary of one of the most painful and tragic losses of my life, my Papa Charlie.
For our family, our focus is treasuring time together.
Christmas morning🎄my husband and I enjoy Mimosa’s & I make a light brunch. We then exchange heartfelt, handwritten letters to one another. I know your rolling your eyes 👀🙄 in the back of your head at that one, but I really do look forward to that letter every year. 😉 We give 3 gifts to Charlie, Something You Want, Something You Need & Something to Read. He also receives a stocking with small toys, candy and trinkets. His Maw (Great Gramma 😉) and my mom do spoil him but that’s what grandparents usually do even if you tell them to keep it simple. 😆
I’m sure you’re also wondering if we exchange gifts with our extended family and friends. Many years ago we chose to share Christmas Day with our family by enjoying supper together and we don’t exchange gifts. Our friends, we invite them to share a meal with us. We just want their time because truly there is no greater gift than just that...time together.
While I understand I’m in business for myself and my family, I felt it was important to share our traditions with you. Not because I want to discourage you from enjoying the season the way you choose. I wanted to share with you because I want you to know I know a lot of people are going through very difficult and unprecedented times and I work very hard to create a pressure-free-environment when it comes to the holiday season at The Silk Mill Retreat. There is no pressure to buy retail and I stopped selling gift cards years ago.
Wishing for each of you a joyous, light and love filled holiday season! ✨
