“No one can listen to your body for you. . . To grow and heal, you have to take responsibility for listening to it yourself.’’ — Jon Kabat-Zinn.
Traditionally, there are 7 main chakras arranged along the spine. Each has its own color and each corresponds to a different physical, mental or spiritual aspect of life. If any of your chakras are blocked, it will cause discomfort or disconnection. By unblocking your chakras through meditative practice, you should feel calmer and more balanced.
Next time you meditate, take a minute to focus on each chakra, starting at the root/base of the spine, working your way up to the crown/top of your head. Visualize the corresponding color as you focus on the area for each chakra. Quietly recite a mantra as you focus on each chakra. Use this guide to help you:
Root - red, base of the spine, “I am grounded, stable, and secure.”
Sacral - orange, below the belly button, “I embrace pleasure, creativity, and abundance.”
Solar Plexus - yellow, above the belly button, “I feel my own power.”
Heart - center of chest, green, “I open myself up to love and compassion.”
Throat - blue, “I speak my truth with confidence and love.”
Third eye - indigo, center of forehead, “I trust my intuition.”
Crown - violet or white, top of the head, “I am attuned to divine energy.”
To enhance your practice, consider using chakra stones, essential oils, incense, and yoga positions that help you focus on each chakra to improve your physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.
