Shoulder replacement is a very effective procedure to take away pain and improve function when other measures are inadequate. Anatomic shoulder replacement (pic 1) is used for arthritis with an intact rotator cuff. Reverse shoulder replacement (pic 2) is used for arthritis in addition to large rotator cuff tear, massive rotator cuff repair that is no longer fixable, some fractures, or in cases of arthritis with severe bone loss and wear to help gain more stable fixation. In both scenarios patients are back to normal day to day life in about 6 weeks and back to all activities, including some sports like golf, in 4 months

Let’s talk 💉 PRP, or platelet rich plasma, is one of the many options we have available to help alleviate pain without surgery. PRP is a simple office procedure involving a blood draw, and the plasma component with a high density of platelets is injected back into the problem area. Rotator cuff tears and rotator cuff disease are the most common cause for shoulder pain. While not all require surgical repair, those that do are typically done minimally invasively with arthroscopic techniques.
