Recovering from a knee replacement? Don’t underestimate the power of the basics! Quad sets are one of the first (and most important) exercises to help you regain strength and control.

How to do it:
1. Sit or lie with your leg straight
2. Tighten the muscle on the top of your thigh
3. Press the back of your knee down toward the surface
4. Hold for 5–10 seconds, relax, and repeat
