Happy to be included in this list of therapists who work in relationship with nature. So many beautiful 'offices' and approaches here--and some cool overlap despite differences in continents and climates!

Since COVID-19 swept the globe, therapists are increasingly taking therapy outdoors and providing nature therapy and ecotherapy.

Do you know a teen girl ages 12-15 who could use some connection and outdoor time with other teen girls after a long, exhausting, lonely, and confusing year? We've got that! In partnership with Through the Trees, we're offering a teen empowerment group this summer. In 90 minute sessions for 5 consecutive weeks, girls will enjoy games, nature, mindfulness, and other activities and conversation that help them learn to regulate stress, trust themselves, and show up in the world the way they want to. Our goal is that girls will leave the group feeling more empowered and connected with themselves, each other, and the natural world. Check it out!

Dandelion is our Teen Girls Empowerment Group, taking place on our beautiful forested property in Freeport, Maine. Dandelion is a very resilient plant that can adapt and grow in challenging conditions, all while spreading happiness and joy. It is symbolic of the warmth and power of the sun, lasting....

One week until summer officially starts...check out my newest blog post for my attempts to fully enjoy summer without my usual low level angst and resentment towards it. (I know, I know, I'm supposed to love summer. That's part of the problem I'm working on!) https://elemental-counseling.com/summertime-blues/

How is this young fern like the therapeutic process? Check out my newest blog post to find out.

Holding Vulnerability and Possibility I spent some time today with this young fern. This is one of many creatures emerging this time of year that seems to hold both vulnerability and possibility. These tiny fern fronds, only 5 inches or so tall, look so tender. The stems are still curled inwards, as...

Is there anything more welcome this time of year than glimpses or purple and yellow amidst the brown? Spring is surely here, and right alongside comes a time of transition in our loooooong pandemic year. What can this seasonal transition time teach us about how to carry ourselves in this pandemic transition time? So much, I think. Check out my newest blog post (link in bio) for details.

If you don’t make it that far, here’s one thing. Take it slow. That crocus has been building up to blooming for lots and lots of days. Hibernating creatures don’t just jump up on the first day of spring and burst into full action. These creatures go slow, taking their cues from their environment (daylight, temperature, etc) and their internal knowledge. We humans are creatures, too, with exhausted and overworked nervous systems, especially now. Go slow and give your system a chance to gently re-integrate. Take your cue from all the plants and animals around us doing the same thing.
