Fun fact! Did you know that your orthopedic surgeon was an Olympic swimmer for Team Canada? 🏊🍁

Dr. Draxinger represented his native country at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, competing in the men’s 200-meter backstroke! What an incredible achievement!

That same competitive drive and dedication to excellence is what pushes him to provide the highest level of care and strive for the best possible outcomes for every patient he meets.

Recognizing the signs led him to undergo a second bypass surgery, a decision that ultimately put him back on the path to better heart health.

This Heart Month, prioritize your heart health! ❤️

Mercyhealth Hospital–Freeport, located at 1045 W. Stephenson St. Freeport, is offering calcium scoring CT heart scans or standard treadmill stress tests for just $134 for those with no known coronary artery disease and no history of heart problems.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women, and early detection is important.

In honor of Cardiac Rehabilitation Week, we're sharing stories from some of our cardiac rehab patients like Richard who was cutting down a tree in his yard when he felt unusual pressure in his chest. Thankfully, his wife encouraged him to get checked and schedule an EKG. He met with his primary care provider, Dr. Magdalena Nowak, and together they took the next steps toward answers.

Working closely with his primary care doctor and our cardiac rehabilitation team changed Richard’s life.
Richard shares how cardiac rehabilitation empowered him to take control of his health, push beyond limitations, and never settle for mediocrity on his health journey. 💙

This impactful event brought together health care providers, community leaders, and local organizations committed to advancing health and wellness in our community. The symposium highlighted the importance of addressing health disparities and ensuring equitable access to care for all. Through engaging panel discussions, experts shared valuable insights while empowering attendees with practical knowledge and resources.
