🌷 March Activity Recap 🌷

What a wonderful and busy month we had here! 💛

We kicked things off with a Tea Party Hat Making activity, where everyone designed their own stylish creations—perfectly paired with our lovely International Women’s Day Tea Party. It was a beautiful celebration filled with laughter, connection, and appreciation. ☕👒

The fun continued with our St. Patrick’s Day Scavenger Hunt 🍀, followed by some festive Spring Headband Making to welcome the new season. 🌸

One of the highlights of the month was a special visit from Leaping Frog Farm —our residents loved meeting the new bunny!

We wrapped up the month with a Bake Sale 🍪

Thank you to our amazing residents, staff, and community for making March so memorable.

As part of a strong clinical team, providing amazing care and support to our Residents, we invest in your future and allow for the ability to grow and build a career with us!

Responsibilities of our Cooks include but not limited to:
* Reviewing menus prior to preparing food
* Inspecting special dietary trays to assure they are correct
* Preparation of cooking and service of variety of foods
* General cleaning up of kitchen
* Assuring that food supplies for the meals are readily available
* Every other weekend required

The Director of Dietary/Food Services manages the food service operations of the facility in conjunction with a Licensed Dietitian. The Dietary/Food Service Director oversees our dietary staff to ensure that meals are attractive, tasteful and nutritious for the residents, families and staff. Oversight and management of the division budget.

We are kicking off our 2nd annual Cards of Kindness Campaign!! We are looking for community groups, after school programs, and individuals to write out holiday cards for older adults in long term care facilities. We will handle deliveries. Katrina Hedgpeth Receives Prestigious Award for Excellence in Long Term Care


Hawthorne House is proud to announce one of its own as a winner of the prestigious Excellence in Long Term Care award, bestowed by the Maine Health Care Association (MHCA) and the Maine Long Term Care Ombudsman Program (LTCOP) during a ceremony at Thomas College.

Katrina, who serves Hawthorne House as a CNA, has been an integral part of the team since July 2010. Nominated for this award for her commitment to caring for our residents with consistency, kindness, compassion, and the utmost dignity & respect, Katrina, was 1 of 20 chosen among a pool of 80 other nominees. Her dedication to excellence encourages her peers to strive for excellence too. We are so proud to call her one of our own! Congratulations Katrina! 🥳❤️
