The Family Enrichment Program

SUNDAY FUNDAY - MAKE YOUR OWN PLAYDOUGH! ⭐
Ingredients:
2 cups flour
1 cup salt
2 Tbsp cream of tartar
2 Tbsp oil
Food coloring
2 cups boiling water

Instructions:
Mix dry ingredients in a bowl.
Make a well in the center and add oil and coloring.
Pour in boiling water and mix.
It will look goopy - let it sit for a few minutes. It will firm up!
Take the dough out of the bowl and knead it a bit to form a ball.
Enjoy!

Notes:
This playdough will keep for a few months if stored in an airtight container or plastic bag in between use.

Grateful to Freepod for helping us spread the word about our fabulous, free program in this week’s interview!

For new or expecting parents, the questions and challenges that are faced seem to be never-ending. But for those in Jo Daviess and Stephenson County, the Regional Office of Education 8 have a program that can help.

Alan Wenzel spoke to Beth Johnson and Marci White from ROE 8 about the Family Enrichment program and what it offers for families in our community.

Make-it-Monday: Shape Sorter Box! Make your own shape sorter by using a box or container. Find different household objects to use as the shapes. Trace the objects on the lid of the container of choice and cut out them out. Show your child how each shape fits in a certain spot on the container. While your child tries to figure out which shape fits where, ask her questions about what she is thinking!

When doing this activity, you are helping your child develop their hand-eye coordination as well as honing their trial and error skills.

Remember that you are your child's first and most important teacher! ✨

Build your child’s confidence by spending time in nature! There’s a lot less structure than most types of indoor play, and they can choose how they interact with the nature around them.

This also gives them practice managing their own actions and encourages creativity and imagination.
