Our Candy Land social was such a fun time! We traveled through peppermint forest through gum drop passage to hopfully pass lord licorice and get to Gramma Nutts house for a quick stop! Then off we went through Lollipop woods, Snow Flake Lake, and Molasses Swamp to King Kandy at the Candy Castle!

Did you know Candy Land was invented in 1948 by Eleanor Abbott, a school teacher who was home recovering from polio, to entertain children in the hosipital. However, the game now has many different varieties of characters and even the game board!

I want to thank the Freeport Public Library - Freeport, IL for your generosity and kindness for letting us use these wonderfully crafted props! They brought the whole event to life! 🍬

We hosted a heartwarming Show and Tell: Wedding Day Photo afternoon, where residents gathered to share cherished photos of their wedding day or beloved spouse, and the love stories that unfolded were truly uplifting, taking us on a journey of years of love, laughter, and devotion, reminding us all of the beauty and joy of commitment, and while traditions and prices may have changed over time, the love and dedication remain timeless, sparking many delightful moments and warm smiles. We had our monthly book club gathering today and had a lively discussion about The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell, thoroughly dissecting the plot and character development. We also went over the 2025 book ratings and were excited to see Where the Crawdads Sing take the top spot on the list!!

This month, we had the pleasure of hosting an unforgettable birthday party with a special visit from Lucy the owl, all the way from Hoo Haven! Lucy was an absolute charmer, and everyone was thrilled to meet her and learn about owls. She was very talkative, and her knowledge about owls is simply impressive. So many interesting facts about owls were shared, and the experience was both educational and entertaining. We are grateful to Hoo Haven for arranging this special visit and making the party a truly special occasion. Thank you Hoo Haven for joining us this month! 🦉 One of our residents also collects owls and helped us out on our centerpieces and it was the perfect collection to add!

Wishing you a New Year full of blessings and new memories! As we gathered today and reflected on the past year we are so very grateful to have spent it with all of our residents and families. We are looking forward to many new adventures with you all!
