Jumping on the caricature trend because rehab doesn’t have to be boring 😎🎨

But here’s the real message behind the fun…

✨ We’re here to help — and we currently have NO waitlist.

Have pain and want to be seen this week?

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Five Star Friday!

Huge thank you to Louise for the kind words and for trusting us with your care. It was such a pleasure working with you and being part of your journey!

One thing we talk about a lot: you don’t have to be in pain to benefit from physical therapy.

Sometimes it’s not pain- it’s:
✔️ Feeling like it’s harder to get up off the floor
✔️ Noticing you’re unsteady when walking
✔️ Your balance feeling “off”
✔️ Strength or mobility just not where it used to be

PT isn’t just about treating injuries. It’s about improving how you move, building strength, restoring confidence, and helping you stay active doing what you love.

We treat the whole person — not just pain. 💪

If something feels off, even without pain, that’s reason enough to come see us.

Tonight’s quarterly inservice with the 10 Maine clinics of the Pinnacle Rehab Network 🙌

We had the opportunity to learn from Dr. Sarah Shubert and take a deeper dive into shoulder surgery — from updated surgical techniques to what that really means for rehab timelines, tissue healing, and return-to-function goals.

Staying current isn’t optional in our field. Surgical techniques evolve. Protocols change. The demands on our patients keep getting higher. If we want to give them the best outcomes, we have to keep learning.

Once a quarter, we come together for a night of education, collaboration, and connecting with our fellow Pinnacle partners who are just as committed to raising the bar.

Better understanding the surgery = better rehab plans = better outcomes for our patients. 💪

Grateful for a team that values growth and lifelong learning.

Ben Ogden, a fellow UVM grad and now OLYMPIC SILVER MEDALIST!!! 🌟

Nordic skiers might just be some of the fittest athletes on the planet. 🥇❄️
Why? Two words: VO₂ max.

VO₂ max is the maximum amount of oxygen your body can use during intense exercise. In simple terms? It’s your engine size. 🚗💨 The bigger the engine, the longer and harder you can go.

🎿 Elite Olympic cross-country skiers have some of the highest VO₂ max values ever recorded — often 70–90+ ml/kg/min (for reference, the average adult is closer to 30–40). That’s not just “good cardio”… that’s superhuman endurance.

But here’s what makes Nordic skiing even cooler from a PT perspective:
✅ Full-body power (arms, core, hips, legs all working together)
✅ Incredible single-leg stability
✅ Eccentric control for downhill sections
✅ Strength-endurance to produce force over and over again
✅ Technical efficiency under fatigue

It’s not just about lungs and heart — it’s about how efficiently the musculoskeletal system transfers force with every stride.

From a rehab standpoint, we think about:
• Building the aerobic base (your engine)
• Improving movement economy
• Strengthening hips and core for propulsion
• Training endurance without sacrificing mechanics

Because whether you’re chasing an Olympic podium or just trying to hike without getting winded, the principles are the same.

Train the engine.
Strengthen the system.
Move efficiently.

Nordic skiers are proof that endurance is strength in disguise. 💪❄️

🇺🇸 Olympic sport week continues! On to Moguls 🥇

MOGUL SKIING IS CONTROLLED IMPACT. OVER. AND OVER.

Mogul skiers absorb 3–5x their bodyweight with every single turn as they rapidly bend and straighten through the hips, knees, and ankles. That force doesn’t disappear — it has to be controlled.

That’s where eccentric strength comes in.

👉 Eccentric strength = a muscle working while it’s lengthening.

Think:
🌟 Your quads slowing you down as you go downstairs

🌟 Your legs absorbing a landing instead of collapsing

🌟 A mogul skier controlling speed instead of bouncing off the snow

In moguls, athletes rely on eccentric strength in the quads, glutes, and calves to absorb force hundreds of times per run. When that system fatigues or isn’t trained well, the load shifts to the joints — often showing up as knee pain, patellar tendon irritation, or low back overload.

👉 Physical therapy doesn’t just build strength.
It trains the body to absorb, slow, and repeat force safely, so impact doesn’t become injury — whether you’re skiing moguls or just trying to move pain-free in daily life.

Force isn’t the enemy.
Poor force control is.

Sliding into the work week like a curler on fresh ice 🥌❄️

In honor of the US Mixed Doubles Curling team, Cory & Korey, making it to the semifinals for the first time in US history, we’re talking all things curling mechanics today 👏🇺🇸

At first glance, curling looks smooth and effortless… but from a PT lens, it’s a full-body control masterclass:

🥌 The slide:
That deep lunge position demands serious hip, knee, and ankle range of motion, plus mobility through the spine to stay low, balanced, and stable while gliding.

🥌 Strength & control:
The lead leg needs strong eccentric quad and glute control to lower the body smoothly and keep the knee aligned. Meanwhile, the core and hip stabilizers are working overtime to prevent wobbling on the ice.

🥌 Upper body precision:
Delivering the stone requires shoulder mobility, wrist control, and fine motor coordination—all while keeping the rest of the body quiet. Power without control = off-target stone.

🥌 Sweeping = sneaky hard work:
Rapid sweeping challenges cardiovascular endurance, shoulder and trunk strength, and quick reaction timing, often in a flexed, loaded position.

Curling is a great reminder that elite performance isn’t just about strength—it’s about mobility + stability + control working together. The same combo we train every day in PT to help people move better, feel stronger, and stay injury-free.

So here’s to Team USA, historic semifinals, and all the unsung muscles working hard under the surface. Let’s slide into this week with balance and control 💪✨

Go Cory & Korey!! 🇺🇸

💨 You think the chin tucks I’ve made you do are bad?
Now imagine holding one…
👉 at 90+ mph
👉 for 45–60 seconds
👉 while your body is pulling up to ~5–6 Gs

Welcome to singles luge 🛷😵‍💫

At peak turns, lugers experience forces up to 5–6 times their body weight- similar to what F1 drivers feel. But unlike race cars, lugers are lying flat on their backs with no headrest. That means the neck is doing ALL the work to keep the head stable while gravity and speed try to whip it around.

Your head weighs ~10–12 lb normally.
At 6 Gs?
Your neck is controlling the equivalent of 60–70+ lb dynamically, for the entire length of the track.

So yeah… those chin tucks you hate?
Now picture holding one through every curve, vibration, and G-load from start to finish 😬🔥

That’s why elite lugers train neck strength and endurance year-round because when physics shows up, your neck better be ready.

Go Team USA 🇺🇸

🚨 Lindsay Vonn. Torn ACL. Racing anyway. 🚨
Yeah… let that sink in for a second 🤯

If there were ever a real-life example of mental toughness + elite rehab + freakish neuromuscular control, it’s Lindsay Vonn. Competing at the highest level of alpine skiing without an intact ACL is nothing short of incredible and from a PT perspective, it opens up an awesome conversation.

So how is this even possible? 👇🏼

ACL “Copers” vs “Non-Copers”
🦵 Copers are individuals who can function, train, and even compete after an ACL tear without repeated instability or giving way
🦵 Non-Copers experience instability and often require surgical reconstruction to safely return to sport

Lindsay Vonn? The definition of and elite-level copier 💪🏼 🔥

What allows someone to pull this off?

✨ Exceptional neuromuscular control- muscles firing at the exact right time to stabilize the knee when the ligament is gone
✨Massive strength & coordination through the hips and quads to control knee motion
✨Years of movement mastery- elite athletes often develop compensatory strategies that most people simply don’t have
✨Strategic bracing & load management to support the joint during extreme demands

Research backs this up:
✔️ Some individuals return to high-level activity after ACL injury with rehab alone and report outcomes comparable to surgical routes
✔️ Copers demonstrate better movement efficiency and knee control than non-copers
✔️Targeted neuromuscular rehab can sometimes convert potential non-copers into copers

⚠️ Big PT Disclaimer:
This doesn’t mean everyone should ski downhill at 80mph with a torn ACL 😅 Lindsay Vonn is a once in a generation athlete with world class resources and supervision. But her story highlights just how powerful high quality rehab and movement control can be!

👏 We are absolutely blown away by her grit, resilience, and willingness to push boundaries. We’ll be cheering LOUD every time she drops into the course! ❄️

At the end of the day, PT isn’t just about healing injuries, it’s about helping people perform at levels they didn’t think were possible.

LETS GO LINDSAY! 🎿 ⛷️ ❄️
