Day 4 of CampMed2024 focused on abscess incision and drainage, punch biopsy, ultrasound, and the CampMed Challenge.

On this last day of CampMed, students experienced a wide-range of procedures and fun activities. From performing abscess incision and draining using scalpel and syringe, to conducting punch biopsies on tomatoes and cucumbers, to using a handheld ultrasound probe to observe their own pulsating aorta and beating heart, students had an amazing time of learning. Students also participated in the CampMed Challenge that involved suturing, knot-tying, and answering questions on topics covered during the week.

Day 3 of CampMed2024 focused on medical knot-tying and suturing.

Students learned about the various techniques of medical knot-tying and suturing and then spent an ample amount of time gloved up and displaying their best motor skills practicing with their own set of thread, needle, scissors and forceps.

A special thank you to guest speaker Rebecca Wong MPAS, PA-C, who spoke to students about her role as a Cardiac Surgery Physician Assistant at Stanford Health Care and her journey to and through physician assistant school. She then taught everyone knot-tying and suturing! Thank you so much, Rebecca!

Day 2 of CampMed2024 focused on cardiovascular and neurological examinations.

Students had a blast learning how and why to use stethoscopes, tuning forks, reflex hammers, blood pressure machines, and so much more as they practiced a variety of medical examination techniques with their partners.

A special shoutout to CampMed alum, Chitrini, who spoke to students about her college application journey, steps and strategies to prepare for medical school entry, as well as the importance of time management and college choice. Thank you, Chitrini!

We had a full house of 33 students and 6 teaching assistants (all CampMed alums) who joined Dr. Valerie Teng for an incredible day of hands-on medical learning.

Day 1's focus was on medical problem-solving and sports medicine.
