February 3, 2025, that was the day Lori decided, I’m going to do this!
Lori had been coming to Tamarac on and off for 13+ years, but after a doctor’s appointment and being diagnosed as pre-diabetic, she was scared and wanted to make a change. When her doctor recommended medication, Lori said, “give me a chance to do it myself”.
Lori enrolled in the smoking cessation program with the community health team at Corewell Health Ge**er and that’s when things started to click.
It was February 3, 2025, when Lori stopped smoking and decided it was time. She knew she would need accountability and support, so she enrolled in the Momentum Program at Tamarac. She had support and encouragement from her children outside of Tamarac. Now her personal trainer, Nina, with the Momentum Program, and other members at Tamarac, Lori was ready.
The Momentum Program is a 12-week medical fitness program at Tamarac that is ideal for those managing a medical condition or looking to start exercising after being physically inactive.
Lori is most proud of putting herself out there and coming out of her shell during this time. She has gained confidence and self-esteem.
Lori shared, “I know I am a work in progress. I’m halfway to my goal. I’m not there yet but I’m still working.” Her current big goal is to run a 5K. Lori and her daughter are signed up to run the Tamarac Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day. Lori noted that she might not run the entire race, but she is going to finish.
“You can’t put a price on your health,” Lori also said. She was spending a lot of money on ci******es, she used that money to pay for the Momentum Program and other items to support her wellness, like new gym shoes.
Lori has and continues to recommend the Momentum Program to others. She highlights that you get one-on-one attention, gain knowledge, and have great support.
