Washington Health now offers a major advancement in knee replacement: the Oxford partial knee implant, a proven option used in the U.K. for more than a decade with outstanding outcomes. Orthopedic surgeons, John T. Transgender Awareness Week and Transgender Day of Remembrance are vital observances that increase visibility and understanding of transgender individuals and their experiences. This week serves as an important platform to advocate for the rights of transgender people and to educate the public about the challenges they face due to their gender identity or gender expression. Greater awareness promotes a more inclusive and compassionate society that embraces and celebrates gender diversity.

Transgender Awareness Week also leads up to Transgender Day of Remembrance on November 20. This solemn day honors the memory of transgender individuals who have lost their lives to anti-transgender violence, serving as a powerful reminder of the ongoing need for awareness, respect, and protection.

Washington Health supports these observances by encouraging communities to foster acceptance, provide mental health resources, and promote the safety and well-being of transgender people. Through education and advocacy, we can help create a healthier, more inclusive society for all.

Local chiropractor, Teresa Yin, DC, was raised with a deep connection to Fremont and a value of giving back. Her father’s advice to stay tied to the community led her to serve on the Washington Health Foundation Board.

She has also selflessly contributed to SAVE (Safe Alternatives to Violent Environments) and Abode (homeless housing and services.)

Dr. Yin has patients who were once her teachers at Gomes, Hopkins, and Mission San Jose High School. What an exceptional example of why our reason is you, Fremont.
