Happy Earth Day. Today is a good reminder to appreciate the world around us and do our part to take care of it, one small step at a time. If you have old glasses you no longer use, we do accept recycled glasses in our office. Small actions like that can still make a difference.

Pollen season can be tough on the eyes. Itching, redness, watering, and irritation are all common signs of eye allergies, especially in the spring when allergen levels rise. For many people, the eyes are one of the first places seasonal allergies show up. A few small habits can help, like avoiding rubbing your eyes and rinsing away pollen after being outdoors.

If symptoms keep coming back, it may be worth mentioning them at your next eye exam.

Many people are surprised to learn that hormones can play a role in eye comfort and vision. Hormonal shifts can sometimes cause changes such as dryness, irritation, blurry vision, or trouble wearing contact lenses comfortably. This can happen during pregnancy, menopause, and other times when hormone levels change.

If these symptoms start to feel persistent or bothersome, it may be worth bringing them up at your next eye exam.

Today is National Siblings Day! We love seeing brothers and sisters come into Capitol Eye Care Center for their annual eye exams.

PARENTS, did you know kids can often start wearing contact lenses at a much younger age than you might think?

With the sun out and spring sports in full swing, local fields are buzzing. Whether it’s soccer, baseball, or something else, we know your young athletes are ready to give their all outdoors.

Why consider contacts for your athlete?
-Full peripheral vision (no frames blocking the ball)
-Increased safety (no broken frames or fogged-up lenses)
-Boosted confidence on and off the field

If they’re ready to ditch the slipping glasses and play with total freedom, let’s schedule a pediatric contact lens consultation with Capitol Eye Care Center doctors.

Pet kisses are adorable, but not for your eyes. Dogs can carry bacteria and other irritants in their saliva, which can cause redness, irritation, or even infection if it gets into the eyes. As cute as this moment is, it’s a good reminder to keep those puppy kisses away from the eye area and rinse your eyes if they get irritated.
