Not all career paths look the same, and for many in our community, skilled trades are opening doors to something bigger.
In our labs, students aren’t just learning, they’re building real skills that lead to better pay, stronger careers, and opportunities they can take anywhere.
Jim Webber a Technology and Skilled Trades professor, sees it every day as he works side-by-side with students.
“Training leads to better pay, more job enjoyment, and valuable skills that are portable to other organizations.”
Some students are just getting started. Others are adult learners returning through apprenticeships or company-sponsored programs, looking for a better lifestyle and long-term stability.
And while there’s still a belief that you can jump into the trades without education, that’s changing quickly.
“You can’t walk into an employer and demand to become an electrician with zero training. Trades that don’t require education are becoming obsolete.”
That’s why programs like ours matter, giving students the training and credentials they need to succeed right here in our community and beyond.
