Advocacy and Leadership month.

I had the opportunity today to meet with residents from UCSF Fresno and with Dr. Robin Linscheid Janzen, an associate professor who teaches advocacy. I much appreciated our discussion about health issues facing communities in the and applaud these residents' dedication.
In addition, our region is in critical need of doctors, and I hope most or all of them will stay in the Valley and practice here.

Congratulations!

We are introducing eight new members of the AAHIVM Board of Directors as they usher in an exciting new era of leadership for the Academy. Today, meet Diana Howard, MD, AAHIVS, a family medicine physician and HIV Specialist based in Fresno, CA. Dr. Howard serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor at UCSF Fresno, and is the proud founder of the GAC services within the program, where she mentors medical students and residents in HIV medicine, HIV prevention and LGBTQ+ health. Additionally, Dr. Howard leads the California Academy of Family Physicians FKM Magazine to share their advocacy work. She is the Academy’s new California & Hawai’i Chapter Co-Chair.

Recent wilderness medicine fellow and now new faculty, Sarah Davis spent the weekend with Fresno County Search and Rescue in their summer exercise at the Dinkey Lakes wilderness. This is a coordinated search practice with an overnight in the wilderness, in the rain this time.
