In collaboration with UCSF Fresno, we were honored to help renovate a dedicated space here on campus, in tribute to Dr. Lori Weichenthal and her legacy as a physician. The Weichenthal Wellness Room offers residents a meaningful place to rest, recharge and decompress, which supports the well-being of those who care for our community every day — something Dr. Weichenthal would have been proud to see.

Earlier this month, we gathered to celebrate the grand opening and reflect on Dr. Weichenthal’s lasting impact.

Her compassion and dedication continue to inspire the next generation of physicians. We’re proud to help carry her legacy forward by investing in the wellness of our residents.

Earlier this month, our Leon S. Peters Burn Team spent Burn Awareness Week by educating team members and hospital visitors in the lobby.

Each day highlighted a different safety topic, from fire prevention to burn first aid, sharing life-saving tips to help prevent injuries at home and at work.

Thank you to our burn team for their continued commitment to education, prevention and compassionate care.

Meet Elise 👋, one of our Speech Language Pathologist's here at the Leon S. Peters Rehabilitation Center.

In 2015, at just 14 years old, Elise’s life changed after a horse-riding accident left her with a severe traumatic brain injury. She was airlifted to our Level I Trauma Center, where multiple teams came together to care for her.

What she remembers most was the support her and her family received during her time here.

Elise was surrounded by caregivers who believed in her, encouraged her and reminded her that her injury did not define who she was. That support, and the unwavering love of her family, carried her through the long road to recovery.

Years later, after graduating from Fresno State, Elise returned to the very hospital that helped save her life, this time as a Speech Language Pathologist.

Today, she walks alongside patients facing many of the same challenges she once did, offering not only clinical expertise, but empathy and understanding shaped by her own journey.

Elise’s journey is a powerful reminder that sometimes the hardest chapters shape us into exactly who we’re meant to be.

“This injury helped my dreams come true,” said Elise. ❤️

Last week during Burn Awareness Week, the Lemoore Volunteer Fire Department toured our Leon S. Peters Burn Center. 🚒

The highlight? A special ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new burn therapy gym, which their donation generously supported. This space will make a meaningful difference for our burn patients and survivors every day.

And of course, no visit would be complete without a trip to the helipad! 🚁

As an award-winning team, our nurses provide expert care for some of the most complex and high-acuity patients in our region. Curious what makes this team stand out? We asked our amazing nurses to tell us why they love being part of it. 🏅

Our 10 West Neuro ICU team recently volunteered at Terry's House, hosting a delicious lunch for residents currently staying there. It was a small way to give back and show their support to families during a challenging time. ❤️
