Helen Irene Buchholz of Jackson, Tennessee passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026, surrounded by family. Helen was born on October 15,1942 in Wolf Run, Ohio to the late Frank and Sophia Shalaty. She married the love of her life Victor Buchholz, Sr. on February 24, 1968. Together they had three beautiful children and seven grandchildren.

Helen was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who was known for her kindness, selflessness, and generosity. She was passionate about her faith, spoiling her grandkids, and celebrating her Polish heritage. Some of her favorite things included hosting Super Bowl parties, playing bingo and balderdash, praying the rosary, watching Hallmark movies, cooking for her family, and indulging in a sweet treat. She and her close friends often took pleasure in day trips to nearby casinos. Helen retired from West Tennessee Healthcare in 2011 after working as a department secretary at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital for many years.

Helen was born to be a traveler. She spent her early years as a travel agent, flying all over the world. She later enjoyed road trips with her family of five, and more recently, annual family vacations with all of her kids and grandkids.

Though her interests were vast, there was nothing Helen loved more than volunteering and serving the Lord. She was a dedicated parishioner at St. Mary's Catholic Church where she spent decades heavily involved in her church community. Some of her most cherished service activities over the years were singing in the church choir, helping at parish fundraising dinners, ministering to the sick and bereaved, volunteering at RIFA, and serving on the church's Altar Society. Her greatest passion was assisting with the opening of the Divine Will and Mercy Chapel at St. Mary's.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband Vic of 48 years, siblings, John Shalaty, Veronica Mucci, and Edward Shalaty, several nieces and nephews, and many close beloved friends. She is survived by her three children, Victor Buchholz, Jr. (Kimberly), Patrick Buchholz (Renee), and Angie LaFont (Bill), sister, Frances Thrlin, brother, Phil Shalaty, and seven grandchildren, Mary Buchholz, Nicholas Buchholz, Maddie Buchholz, Lizzie LaFont Wallace (Bryton), Michael Buchholz, Rachel LaFont, and Luke LaFont, and a large extended family of treasured nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass for Helen will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Jackson on Friday, February 13, 2026 at noon with Monsignor Al Kirk officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgecrest Cemetery. Visitation will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Church on Friday from 9:30 until 11:30 with rosary at 11:30. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, RIFA, or St. Mary's Catholic Church. Helen's family would like to thank the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Humboldt, TN and her West Tennessee Healthcare Hospice team for the loving and compassionate care they provided during her final weeks.

Forrest Fitts Lipe, known affectionately to all as "Fitts," passed away on January 26, 2026, in Jackson, TN. He was 79 years old.

Born in Paris, AR, to the late Forrest F. Lipe and Margaret Fitts, Fitts led a life defined by service, faith, and a dedication to his community. As the son of a railroad employee, he spent his childhood traveling across the country, living in Memphis, TN; Birmingham, AL; Yazoo City, MS; and North Plainfield, NJ, before eventually making his permanent home in Jackson.

Fitts served his country with honor in the United States Air Force, stationed at Clark Air Base in the Philippines. Upon returning home, he enrolled at the New Jersey Institute of Technology, where he was an active member of the local veterans' fraternity and earned his degree in Civil Engineering.

He moved to Jackson, TN, to begin a long and respected career as a Civil Engineer with the Jackson Utility Division (now Jackson Energy Authority). It was in Jackson that he helped found the city's first singles club, a decision that would shape the rest of his life, as it was there that he met his future wife, Mary Breen.

Fitts and Mary built a life of 47 years together and welcomed their son, Charles Michael Lipe. Fitts took immense pride in fatherhood, which led him to a second "career" in mentorship. Because of Michael's involvement, Fitts became deeply active in the Boy Scouts of America. He spent multiple summers working as a Shooting Sports Instructor at Camp Mack Morris and served as Camp Commissioner at the Woodruff Scout Reservation north of Atlanta, GA.

Even after retiring from the Jackson Utility Division, Fitts's desire to guide young people continued. He began substitute teaching and eventually took a position overseeing In-School Suspension at Liberty High School. Combining his passion for shooting sports with his dedication to students, he helped found and coach the Liberty High School Trap Shooting Team.

A devout Catholic, Fitts was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Jackson. He was a pillar of the Knights of Columbus, holding several leadership roles and tirelessly volunteering for events and fundraisers.

In his quiet moments, Fitts enjoyed golf, woodworking, reloading and being on the river. He expressed his love for others through food, often found cooking meals for his family and friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Breen Lipe, and his son, Charles Michael Lipe. He also leaves behind his cousins, Rick and Mary Fitts, David Fitts and Bert Magh, and Carla Lewton; as well as his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Mary Jo Breen, the late Mike and Pat Breen, and Dan and Linda Breen, and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews.

The family will receive friends Friday, February 6th from 10:00Am until 11:30am at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Rosary will be at 11:30 with Mass following at noon. Father Dennis Schenkel will be the celebrant.

RANA PAIGE PRICE was the precious only child of Randa Colwell Price and James Ray Price. She was born in Santa Anna, California on March 21,1967 and passed away on July 20, 2025. She had 3 years of regular childhood until her dad died of Polycystic Kidneys at age 27. What no one knew at the time was that it was hereditary. This gave us all pause. This beautiful, lively little girl with long curly hair blowing in the wind as she ran and played, was selected to carry on the family tradition. The possibility of kidney disease and shortened lifespan was a fact of her life. Yet she was always busy, always making plans, traveling, and eventually, became a Registered Nurse. Even then she was a traveling nurse!

Eventually, kidney disease took command, leading to years of dialysis and inability to work while on the kidney donor list. It turns out that dialysis isn't as much fun as it sounds, but she was alive and had reason to hope, and after about 7 years, she was blessed and gifted with an organ transplant. She was transformed. Rana regained her health and enjoyed a life filled with plans and accomplishments. Until it was not. But what a wonderful 5 years! So many things delayed her being fit enough to be on the donor list this time, which brought us to July 20, 2025. She was very, very ill, and could not be saved.

On July 4, Randa's husband, Dr. Mack Allen Perry died. His funeral was on July 13. Rana was so lovely and energetic at her stepdad's service. She was pleased to see her cousins and other relatives after several years. She even felt like having dinner out and meaningful conversation. These are the memories that will sustain us. Rana was so much fun, and one of the smartest people we knew. She loved Windjammer cruises, Disneyland, dolphins, Cirque du Soleil, wonderful times in London and Paris, and she was always learning. Rana and her uncle Bob were planning a trip to Angkor Wat. She was creative, generous and her gift wrapping was legendary. Rana felt all things were possible, and she proved it.

Rana is deeply missed by her mother Randa Colwell Perry, her aunt and uncle, Jann and Bob Snyder, and friends all over the place.

Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Sunday, July 27th at Friendship Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Foropoulos officiating. Burial will follow in Bellevernon Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 12:30 until service time.

07/22/2025

It is with deep sadness and also great joy that the family announces the death and celebration of the life of Master Sergeant Joe Von Camp U.S.A.F. retired. Joe Von passed away at the State Veterans Home in Humboldt, Tennessee, after a lengthy illness.

Joe Von was born in Crockett County, Tennessee on June 12,1932 in the midst of the great depression. He was born the son of sharecroppers. While growing up, Joe Von, along with his siblings, learned the importance of hard work. All of the Camp children wore clothes fashioned from flour sacks and dressed in hand-me-downs. They worked the fields and raised their own food. The manner in which they grew up and their childhood experiences forged a lifelong bond among the siblings. It also created a deep-seeded respect for their parents who insisted they attend school and church.

Upon graduation from Friendship High School, Joe Von did as his brothers had done, and joined the military. Joe Von and his six brothers served our country with pride and their names are displayed on the Crockett County Veterans Memorial at the courthouse in Alamo, Tennessee. During his time in the military, Joe Von's state side assignments included North Dakota and Texas while his overseas locations were in Saudi Arabia, Holland and Germany. Joe Von served our country with honor and distinction and after completing 23 years of military service he retired with an honorable discharge and the thanks of a grateful nation.

Once retired, Joe Von returned with his family to Crockett County, Tennessee where he lived for the remainder of his life. He continued to engage in an active lifestyle which included participation in several years of long-distance running competitions. He expanded his involvement in sports to include bowling leagues as well as participation in the Tennessee Senior Olympics. In 2023, at the age of 91, Joe Von was inducted into the Tennessee Senior Olympic Hall of Fame in recognition of his accomplishments in the sports of Bowling, Shuffleboard, Table Tennis, Horseshoes, Co****le and Track & Field. Joe Von also received a special commendation because of his inspiration to countless people around him to stay active and get involved.

Joe Von's lifetime journey lasted 93 years, one month and six days and ended when he died on July 18, 2025.

This benediction is a tribute to a life well-lived and marks the end of Joe Von's faithful journey:
Life is short, and we do not have much time to gladden the hearts of those who make the journey with us. So, be swift to love, and make haste to be kind.

Joe Von was preceded in death by his parents, William Luther Camp and Adell McAlister Camp and by his siblings, Katheryn Burke, Dorothy Wilson, Francis Buchanan, Otha "Mac" Camp, Jack Camp, W.L. "Billy" Camp, Ray "Durwood" Camp and Weldon "Shang" Camp.

Joe Von is survived by his brother, Gene "Grady" Camp. He is also survived by his children, Donna Conley, Michael Camp (Kelli), David Camp (Laura), his nine grandchildren, Blake Conley, Columbus Conley, Jeremy Camp, Austin Camp (Rachael), Benjamin Camp, Katie Camp, Alex Camp (Whitney), Nicholas Camp (Sara) and Suzanna Camp. In addition, there are five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 24,2025 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Funeral services will immediately follow at 12:00 PM, at Friendship Funeral Home, 152 Main Street, Friendship, Tennessee. Burial will take place at the Friendship cemetery immediately following the completion of the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a veteran's service or any other charity of your choice.
