Two photos. 5 Semesters. A journey I will always be grateful for.
I was hired to teach Dance Kinesiology at SMU Meadows while Christopher served as Director of the Dance program. I remember walking into that first class with equal parts excitement and responsibility-deeply aware of the trust placed in me to educate, guide, and support dancers in understanding their instrument: their bodies.
Since that first day, life has moved quickly. I’ve lived in three different homes across the Metroplex, watched Bravo grow from an idea into what it is today, and had the privilege of teaching and learning alongside dancers at one of the most respected dance programs in the country.
While many things have changed over the years, my purpose has remained the same: to empower dancers with knowledge that helps them train smarter, perform stronger, and sustain long, healthy careers.
Dance kinesiology is not just about anatomy or biomechanics-it’s about giving dancers the tools to advocate for themselves, to understand the why behind their training, and to protect the craft they love. My goal has always been to bridge artistry and science in a way that supports excellence without sacrificing longevity.
To my students: thank you for your curiosity, your hard work, and your willingness to engage with material that isn’t always easy-but is always important. Watching you apply this knowledge in the studio, on stage, and beyond has been one of the most rewarding parts of my career. I hope you carry these lessons with you wherever your dance journey takes you.
To the SMU Meadows faculty and support staff: thank you for your collaboration, trust, and support throughout these years. It’s truly been an honor.
As I wrap up my role as an adjunct professor, I look forward to continuing to be a resource for the students. I will always be cheering you on đź’›
