We’re thrilled to share that our team at Restored Path Detox recently welcomed Zach Pogue from Lucent Recovery and Wellness and what a visit it was!

Lucent’s full-spectrum outpatient offerings include their Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), coaching, case management, counseling, fitness programming and transitional housing, all of which bring remarkable depth and flexibility to the continuum of care. They have crafted an individualized, clinician-owned treatment environment in Austin, focused on addressing root causes of mental health and substance-use issues and building long-term wellness. We couldn't be more excited about continuing to work together and further develop the relationship between our two organizations.

Job description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Recovery Advocate to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist the staff in the management and ex*****on of the daily schedule and coordination/facilitation of patient needs.

Responsibilities:
- Act as a Liaison between clients and staff and relay pertinent client information, including observations, to appropriate Clinical Staff.
-Supervise daily client operations and always act in a manner sensitive to their needs and best interest.
- Provide thorough, accurate, and timely documentation of any services delivered to clients.
- Assist clients with transportation needs.
- Communicate and set limits with culturally diverse clients.
- Maintain the safety of the clients and the security of the facility.
- Participate in intake and discharge process of clients.
- Administration of drug screens.
- Instruct recovery-based lectures as assigned.
- Protect client confidentiality in accordance with Company Policy.
- Must maintain off the clock boundaries. Will not be responsible for any after-hours work communication.
- Uphold all RPD Policies and Procedures.
- Maintain client/potential client confidentiality in accordance with Origins’ Policy

Skills:
- Must be computer literate and be familiar with most Microsoft products and network components.
- Must have fluid communication skills.
- Must be familiar and demonstrate knowledge of the principles and programs of the various 12-step fellowships.

Many of us in recovery are familiar with the term “lost as a goose” but in this case a duck. I searched what the significance is of a duck in recovery and found the explanation very interesting.

In the context of recovery, particularly from substance use or mental health challenges, the "duck" metaphor, often called the "Stanford Duck Syndrome" or "Duck Syndrome," refers to the appearance of calm and ease while inwardly struggling. It highlights the facade some people create, appearing relaxed on the surface while secretly battling underlying issues.

Why it's Relevant:
Recognizing this "duck syndrome" can be a crucial step in seeking help and support. It encourages individuals to acknowledge their struggles and reach out for assistance rather than trying to maintain a false image of being "okay".

More than our profession is our calling to help the “Lost Ducks” get their lives back. It just takes one call to change your life forever. At Restored Path Detox we are not ducking around!
