If you’re not breaking up with soda or candy any time soon, here’s how to indulge a little smarter:
💫 Drink it with meals, not all day.
Sipping soda or snacking on candy for hours keeps sugar on your teeth longer. Have it with a meal, then be done.
💫 Use a straw for soda.
It helps keep most of the acid and sugar away from your front teeth (still not perfect, but better).
💫 Rinse with water right after.
Swish with plain water to wash away some sugar and acid before it really settles in.
💫 Wait 30 minutes before brushing.
Soda is acidic and can temporarily soften enamel. Give your teeth a little time before you brush so you’re not scrubbing softened enamel.
💫 Pick “stick less” candy.
Gummy, chewy, and sticky candies hang out in the grooves of your teeth longer. If you can, choose chocolate that melts away more quickly.
💫 Keep it a treat, not a habit.
Occasional candy or soda + good daily brushing and flossing is way better than small amounts all day, every day.
You don’t have to be perfect—you just have to be protective of your smile.
