We have been working from home since Friday afternoon. Today two of our gap years went in to hold down the fort at the sleep lab and they ended up having some fun making snow men. Hello my name is Zheyar Seyan, and I spent part of my gap year with Dr. Jain at Dream Sleep Medicine before going to medical school. I am now a PGY1 Urology resident! While I learned a lot about patient care and practice management, the most valuable lesson was the strategic roadmap for a competitive specialty. Dr. Jain taught me that matching into urology requires a deliberate plan: securing strong grades as a foundation, actively pursuing research to build connections, and, most critically, fostering genuine mentor relationships within the field. This advice became my blueprint for success throughout medical school.

Hi there! My name is Bismah Syed, and I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin (hook 'em!) with a B.S. in Neuroscience. I’m so excited to learn from Dr. Jain, Reema, and the Dream Sleep Medicine team, and I’m grateful to them for having me on board!

As part of this team, I look forward to learning the ins and outs of running a clinic, gaining hands-on experience with patients and research, and exploring technological advancements in sleep medicine.

Hi everyone! My name is Richel and I graduated from University of Central Florida with a B.S. in Health Sciences (pre-clinical) on the pre med track. I am so excited and beyond grateful to Dr.Jain, Reema and the entire team to be given the opportunity to gain real clinical experience, administrative skills, and knowledge that will prepare me to apply to medical school.

Originally from Atlanta, Georgia and a traveler at heart, I spend my time reading, exploring new places, pretending to be a food critic, and spending time with family and friends!

In this gap year, I hope to grow and expand my horizons to new opportunities, developing even better skills with patient care, research, and working as a team. I’m looking forwards to growing alongside everyone and developing a great environment and community!
