✏️ 📖 💻 Today is just a learning day I guess!

My continuing education is due in March to renew my Texas license so that’s what I am doing. A lot of the time people come in with pressure in the teeth, behind the bottom of the scalp/head and it’s actually radiating from deep muscles in the sub occipitals, traps, massager. Hence the diagram with the most trigger points (knots)

TMJ is the joint that lets your jaw open and close. When this joint or the muscles around it are irritated, it can cause jaw pain, clicking or popping, headaches, ear pain, and trouble chewing.

Bruxism is when you clench or grind your teeth, usually without realizing it—often while sleeping or when stressed.

How they’re connected:
Grinding or clenching puts extra pressure on the jaw joint. Over time, this can cause or worsen TMJ pain.

Why it matters:
If it keeps happening, it can lead to headaches, sore jaw muscles, worn-down teeth, and ongoing jaw or neck pain.

In short:
Bruxism = grinding teeth.
TMJ problems = jaw joint pain.
Grinding makes jaw pain worse.

I am officially certified in Oncology Massage Therapy. I am honored to be able to help people along their very long and rough journey with cancer. For YEARS we have been told we cannot massage people with cancer. Now for some types it may be true. It is very important to communicate and get notes throughout EVERY appointment from the oncologist doctor and communicate with your client regularly. Cancer side effects can change as little as 2 weeks. So it’s very important to stay in contact with your client and their doctor before each and every session. Providing a note from the doctor can help. The types of cancer that are contraindicated are Skin Cancers, blood cancers, and lymphatic cancers. If they have blood clots, cancer is contraindicated completely. It is very important the client is up front with you before you accept them as a client to make sure you can work with them. My grandmother died from a very aggressive breast cancer so I was very excited to be able to help people with stress and relaxation. I cannot wait to help people on their long and stressful journey and give them a little relief.

I have no team or front desk to book clients for me so the fact that I am staying this busy really helps me feel confident in what I am doing.
