DAP Tip of the Day: Families with school-age children become part of an extended social network. When children become alienated from friends and schoolmates, or when a parent is rejected by other parents in the group (or even just within a community or neighborhood), it complicates the situation.

Children of single-father homes are often teased about being motherless, looked down upon for being in a single parent household or other parents may hesitate to let their kids attend sleepovers in a house where no woman is present. Dads may find themselves having to explain such behavior to their kids, even though they may not understand it either.

Dads, take the time to explain. Every child is different and accepting your explanation may not happen over night but be consistent and keep your answers consistent. Providing consistency and a supportive approach can send a strong message.

Quote of the Day: “It is always time and effort better spent developing new, fresh, prospective women than it will ever be in attempting to reconstruct a failed relationship. Never root through the trash once the garbage has been dragged to the curb. You get messy, your neighbors see you do it, and what you thought was worth digging for is never as valuable as you thought it was.” Rollo Tomassi

DAP Tip of the Day: Listen and create dialogue. Fathers should begin conversations with their children about important topics at appropriate ages and stages of development. Starting a routine of healthy conversations will make it easier to have more challenging discussions later on. It also gives dads more credibility and earning a place in their kids' minds for reliable advice.

DAP Tip of the Day: To kick off 2022, fathers should understand they are a role model, which is often assumed, but sometimes overlooked. But yes, fathers are role models to their kids. A girl who spends time with a loving father grows up knowing she deserves to be treated with respect by boys and she learns what to look for in a partner. A boy who spends time with loving fathers are provided with better direction in life to make sound decisions. Fathers teach boys and girls what is important in life by demonstrating important qualities and character.

Being alone is not the answer. We all need help and guidance.
