The CDC thinks so too!

One of the best ways to protect babies from getting very sick with Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is a RSV vaccination that is given to you during pregnancy.

This vaccine is given during RSV season to people who are 32 through 36 weeks pregnant.

Babies born to mothers who get RSV vaccine at least 2 weeks before delivery will have protection.

Have questions? Let's talk about it at your next appointment.

Oxytocin...its the "love drug" and its everywhere at birth.

And it is a good thing.

Studies suggest that increased partner involvement during pregnancy and the birth process improves the health outcomes of mother and baby.

So go ahead, let the love flow and enjoy all the healthy benefits!

Meconium happens, but do you know what it is?

Babies do not eat food in the womb, so meconium is made up of other materials that are ingested during fetal growth - intestinal epithelial cells, lanugo (hair), mucus, amniotic fluid, bile and water.

While meconium is not technically the same as p**p, it is considered baby's first bowel movement and is present in the stool for a few days after birth.

Preparing for postpartum.

You have invested in preparing for your labor and birth, it's important you also prepare for postpartum.

Oftentimes postpartum feels a bit like falling off a cliff. While preparations may not be a total fix, plans can provide a softer landing.

Think of them as a pillow to land on.

When will baby get a bath?

Babies have traditionally been given a bath not long after birth. But research shows waiting may be better.

Turns out, waiting:

👉 Promotes breastfeeding as the smell of amniotic fluid provide breastfeeding cues.
👉 Keep baby warm and reduces stress.
👉 Protects baby's skin as vernix is moisturizing.
👉 Cultivates good bacteria and helps baby develop their microbiome - a huge part of their immune system.

Some moments a pregnancy are delightful.

One of the things that most people love is feeling their baby move.

The little flutters then the kicks....then those big moments, where you're not quite sure what baby has going on in there

Obviously, not all of pregnancy is delightful, but what parts do you feel grateful for?
