Autism includes a broad range of conditions and is not a linear spectrum. The CDC’s expected milestones (available to download from our website’s resource library) are a great reference to utilize if you believe your child may be exhibiting signs of autism. Review the milestones and check with your pediatrician if you have any questions. Your pediatrician can refer you to someone who can provide a comprehensive evaluation, and children can be tested for autism as early as 18 months. There is no harm in evaluating a child for autism, and studies show that early intervention is key.
If your child is diagnosed, find a provider that you like and trust. Providers can be in-clinic, in-home, in-community or a combination.
