⭐ How Expanders Can Help With Sleep Apnea!

1. They widen the upper jaw

Many kids with sleep-disordered breathing have a narrow palate. When the palate is narrow, the nasal passages are also narrow because the palate forms the floor of the nose.
➡️ Widening the palate creates more nasal space.

2. Better airflow through the nose

A wider nasal passage means:
• Easier nasal breathing
• Less mouth breathing
• Reduced nighttime snoring
• Improved oxygen levels during sleep

3. They move the teeth and bones, not just the teeth

Because kids are still growing, expanders gently separate the mid-palatal suture (the growth plate), which:
• Increases the width of the upper dental arch
• Improves tongue posture and room for the tongue

A tongue that fits properly in the palate can help prevent airway collapse during sleep.

4. Helps with crossbites & crowding that restrict the airway

When jaws are too small, teeth crowd and the airway becomes smaller. Expansion creates room and helps the jaws develop forward, which leads to:

Dr. John Wise and Dr. Jessica Lee are specialists in Orthodontics. We love the work we do. We can get you the smile you always wanted and we can do it affordably, conveniently and on time! Our Team of professionals knows how to care for you and your family. Right from the beginning, we will formulate a custom plan for you, create an affordable payment arrangement, and begin treatment when you are ready. Our insurance coordinator will make sure to maximize your plan benefit, and our payment plans make treatment reachable for almost any budget.

We’d like to meet you today. And if you are a mom, we’d like to meet your kids by age seven so we can identify any special situations that will require intervention now instead of complex solutions later. As a young person, we can accomplish a few things that are impossible once all of the teeth have erupted. Come see us with or without a referral from your family or pediatric dentist.
