🆘 PARENTS OF ATHLETES 🆘 - ‘Did you win?’ ‘Did you lose?’ These are the wrong questions to ask. But if you must ask, emphasize the idea that outcomes such as winning or losing, scores, stats, times lead to opportunities to improve.
🔸 Remember your role focuses on life lessons. Keeping a growth mindset is a vital life skill they need.
🔸Ideal ‘yes/no’ questions to ask include ‘Did you give your best out there?’ This puts the emphasis on hard work.
🔸Use a ‘Tell me what you learned today you can take into the next game?’ This fosters a focus on growth, learning, and mastery of skills and sport.
