Connecting in Uncertain Times

I haven't written here in a long time. There's been surgery on both my elbows to release and stabilize a dislocating ulnar nerve. My mast cells have flared and there was a bit of a spiral when prednisone caused a mild anaphylaxis. The unexpected "fun" result of that? New and long term breathing problems. I've started seeing as s*x therapist. …...

So, with long trials over the past few months, we've come to the conclusion that I've has asthma THIS ENTIRE DAMNED TIME. They just didn't catch it because I also react to albuterol and possibly propellant as well. So the whole test of "breathe into this little machine and then we'll give you albuterol and see how much it improves....oh no...it got worse...then it's probably not asthma" WAS JUST BECAUSE I'VE GOT MCAS AND MY BODY IS DRAMATIC.

I'm finally on a steroid inhaler...but it doesn't react as a rescue inhaler. So I still have bad days (like the past two days) and not sure what to do. I see immunology again very soon. He's taking everything slow so we don't make mistakes or miss a stupid mast cell reaction. But I'm just mad about all of it.

That's all.

I'm mad it was missed even though I don't feel right blaming the doctors fully because they were going off of what information they had. But I'm mad.

A bit of an unusual post. This year has been hard for so many reasons. My partner and I wanted to come up with a way to bring a different vibe to 2026.

Sure, there's pretty pictures. But we've replaced the typical calendar days with tons of International and National Days. From National Coyote Day and Pollinator Week to International Lego Day and Talk Like A Pirate Day. But also serious days like MMIW and Coming Out Day.

At the bottom of each month, there's a collection of things that month has for awareness, like May being Ehlers-Danlos Awareness Month.

The Pain,Pain Go Away Salve from The Spork Witch just arrived!

I will absolutely be replenishing this when I run out. This stuff has really impressed me, and let me tell you why so you can head over there.

When you first open the tin, there's a light scent. No dramatic wofting of perfume that you would swear needs a cartoon pink cloud as backup. No no. It's like if you wandered into the grove of Chiron himself in Ancient Greece. A comforting yet mild blend of medical herbs, light citrus, and a hint of woods. The smell quickly dissipated after being rubbed in, which is perfect for those sensitive to scents.

But of course that's not all.

I've used the butter version before and it was lovely, but I can say that the salve works faster. It's not overly waxy (which is a textural concern of mine) so there's no sticky residue at all. Very slight sensation of warmth, but not like a tiger balm tingly warmth. This is a very natural warmth. I used it on a knee that had been recently dislocated and had stayed very upset. While the wise thing to do is still wear my knee brace, the pain salve significantly reduced the pain to where I'm comfortable and able to focus on work.

And the cherry on top? You're supporting a disabled creator that has EDS.

Just to note, this is in no way a sponsored post. Just an honest review on a product that works for me. πŸ¦“πŸ–€
