Always helpful information since many medical providers do not know the updated guidelines. I’ve had patients advised to pump and dump after a dental appointment with local anesthesia which is unnecessary and adds stress to moms.
Most (95% or more) common medical procedures and medications do not require any pumping and dumping. It’s RARELY needed.

This is happening in every state. Insurance companies failing to cover basic and complex lactation consults. The laws put in place 10 yrs ago or so were not specific enough so the companies don’t have to comply and no one is enforcing it.
In the end they will pay for less healthy moms and babies. The families are hit hardest though.
